Wilder vs Opetaia has been confirmed, they’re gonna be fighting on the undercard of Joshua vs Fury fight on December 11.

Venue: Principality Stadium, Cardiff, Wales.

The incentive must have been very mouth watering for Opetaia to decide that he’s gonna move up to heavyweight and fight wilder. Plus wilder is basically a shell of when he was still in his prime so he might not really be much of a threat to Opetaia; the power is still there though.

Deontay Wilder VS Jai Opetaia - Heavyweight bout confirmed DEC 11
I often see Wilder fighting in the ring and also Jai Opetaia with different opponents, overall the two of them have never had a duel in the ring, but if I see both of them I think the fight between Wilder vs. Opetaia is very competitive, because both of them have their own skills, where I often see Wilder has quite powerful right hand punching power and Opetaia is no less exciting, she has agile skills and the speed of the two boxers made the audience a little tense and it was difficult to determine which one would win this boxing if they both actually collided in the ring on December 11, 2026.

I applaud Jai Opetaia for having the courage to fight Deontay Wilder, as far as I know Opetaia has never stepped foot in a professional ring in the heavyweight class, This is a golden opportunity for Opetaia for a boxing career, if he can beat Wilder, although I'm a little doubtful that Opetaia won't be able to beat Wilder, but at least he has tried to duel both of them.

Hmm... Considering Wilder's age (41),  he shouldn't be thinking of fighting again, maybe this fight is gonna retire him because I don't see him beating an unbeaten Opetaia who is 31 years old. That's 10 years when we're talking about age difference. I would expect Wilder to tire out before the sixth round and then we would probably witness a win by KO against him. If this was 2020 I would have expected Wilder to win but due to his age I don't see that happening.

Deontay is in big trouble. Jai is such a dangerous fighter; he is a boogeyman in boxing. I have seen some of these matches, and he is really a dominant fighter. I thought Jai and Benavidez were going to fight; they faced off in the ring after Jai's recent win, and they both agreed to fight.
I know Deontay wants to regain his old glory, but Jai is not the right person to restore it; Jai might even end up retiring Deontay.
It's only a month to go; looking forward to their face-off.

I think wilder’s major problem in that fight is gonna be his cardio, we all know he hasn’t got the best cardio in the division and at 41, i think that is gonna play a major factor in the fight especially if they drag it into late rounds.

Anyway, the prediction market hasn’t yet spun up any odds for the fight yet so i’ll be on the lookout for it.
Wilder is gonna be the underdog in the fight so his odds of winning are obviously gonna be on the higher side.

The incentive must have been very mouth watering for Opetaia to decide that he’s gonna move up to heavyweight and fight wilder.

Sure, there's a lot of money in sight, but can his body handle cumulative damage?
Addition of Wilder vs Opetaia bout to Tyson Fury vs Anthony Joshua main event card has taken hype for this entire event to another level!

You know, Jai Opetaia is natural cruiserweight. So no matter how much he moves up to heavyweight division, he will inevitably struggle against punching range and size advantage of natural heavyweight like Wilder.
And no matter how poor Wilder’s form, even if people have written him off following his losses to Parker and Zhang, that dynamite left-right punching power of his remains very real to this day.
Opetaia’s technique is good, sure but if he gets bit careless, one of those bomb from Wilder and it's game over!

Opetaia has not formally moved to the heavyweight category yet, may be he is using this match to announce his presence in the heavyweight category but , coming up against an experienced boxer like Wilder is what gives me concern. Forget that Wilder May not be his prime and best of forms but this is one boxer that still had something to proof if you ask me. Wilder is one boxer that has gathered alot of experience over the years so for a boxer like Opetaia who has never been in this category to be coming up a veteran like Wilder keep me worried.

Well since this match is an undercard for the main fight for the night Fury vs Joshua fight. I hope that this fight should be what the wait, Opetaia is a fast fighter combining his speed I believe that he will give Wilder a good fight.

It's definitely a fight that would categorize both opponents into speed vs power class.
Opetaia would be relying on his speed, fast movement and angles to try to out class and keep Wilder in check, while Wilder on the other hand with his vast experience would rely on his patience as he looks for a perfectly timed opportunity to land a devastating blow.
I may be on the side of experience and wit but these days anything can happen mostly when an opponent like Opetaia who has much to prove is given such an opportunity of a life time to shine.

I know Deontay wants to regain his old glory, but Jai is not the right person to restore it; Jai might even end up retiring Deontay.
Regaining his old glory or it is for the money, he is fighting for? I wonder what Deontay would be doing with regaining his old glory at this age, what do he intend to do with the old glory? He should approach the fight with all carefulness before they stretch him out with a stretcher on the fight day. We all know the fight is for the money. Boxers are so luck that they have a career that allow them to fight at such age when they are running out of money.

It would have been fair if Deontay were still younger, but at 41 and only relying on the sheer power of his right hand, I don't think he has a good chance against the 31-year-old, and at the height of his career, Deontay had a lackluster performance against Chisora, who is also past his prime, so I do't think he can come out with a better one here.
Jai is going to be a favorite to win here, but we never know if Deontay can still pull an upset. The power of his right hand is still there.

Jai is a promising boxer and a two-time cruiserweight champion, and fighting Deontay is a good opportunity to establish his name
This is a big surprise, as Jai is looking to unite the Cruiserweight  division against Benavidez, but it seems Jai is testing the waters
to see if he can also do it in the heavyweight.
This is a good matchup; it's a match for a fighter who still wants to hang on and a guy who wants to establish his reputation. I have Opetaia as the favorite here, and the odds are in his favor.

Exactly my thought, Wilder doesn’t give a fuck about regaining old glory, he’s 41 FGS,i doubt there’s anything left for him to prove; man’s just there for the purse nothing more.

Opetaia has not formally moved to the heavyweight category yet, may be he is using this match to announce his presence in the heavyweight category

He is moving up to heavyweight for this Wilder fight and i’m sure he’s already working his way towards it.
Although i doubt that he’s gonna remain at heavyweight after the Wilder fight because he’s still got some unfinished business at Cruiserweight; i saw a clip where Opetaia and David Benavidez faced off in the ring after winning a fight, so there’s a probability that he would possibly wanna pursue that fight with Benavidez afterwards.

What do y’all think?

Opetaia was always a cruiserweight, why this time he has decided to try as heavyweight and have this test against guy who is famous for knocking down people? Wilder is not the best candidate to run tests on Cheesy Another interesting idea is that Opetaia wanted to fight and earn, but also wanted to keep his belts. Loosing to Wilder wont make him lose belts. Or Opetaia is following Usyk footsteps, who has also left cruiserweight and turned heavyweight?

Yeah i do agree that there might still be some power left in Wilder but if will not caught Opetaia early in the fight then it is over for Wilder as he will easily gassed out as the fight prolonged. It would be nice to see Opetaia fight Benavidez but the latter has its own fight this December and i don't think that they will meet sooner in the ring as Usyk is waiting for Benavidez next year and the winner of that one might fight Opetaia as i speculate that he will win against Wilder this December.

Reclaiming old glory for many of these boxers is actually getting more money into their accounts, we've been hearing about athletes and entertainers that have been coming back from retirement, Tyson Fury, who will fight in the main event also came back from retirement, their regaining glory must be to make more money. Deontay Wilder, might seem like the underdog in the fight due to his age but let us also remember that Jai Opetaia, is just stepping into the heavyweight, it can be an advantage for Wilder, due to his experience as a heavyweight. I think their fight is going to be speed versus experience, I look forward to seeing a good fight from both of them.

Wilder might have some power in him, but he will have to catch Jai early, otherwise, he will gets tired in the latter round and Jai could knock him out. Not sure though what is the plan of Opetaia to go to Heavyweight.

Is he avoiding David Benavidez? I thought that this two might go on a collision course later. But Jai might have other plans, maybe this is just a tune up fight for him or get busy fight for this year. I don't think that Wilder still has something left in him, he is already was passed his prime years.

Jai is the favorite to win this match, but Benavidez has a different opinion about this fight; he has doubts about Jai when he just said that Jai is a boogeyman, that right hand is not that powerful anymore because he failed to knock out the aging Chisora when they met and Wilder is not the same boxer that he used to be.
I don't know if he is underestimating Jai or if he still believes that Wilder is the man to beat, this is one opinion that I can disagree I still have Jai winning dominantly in this fight.

Regaining his old glory or it is for the money, he is fighting for? I wonder what Deontay would be doing with regaining his old glory at this age, what do he intend to do with the old glory?
I don't understand, isn't it all about regaining back his prestige? However, he was once a great fighter and I don't think their is anything wrong having those old times back. Moreover, we never can tell what we happen, who knows if history will repeat itself.

He should approach the fight with all carefulness before they stretch him out with a stretcher on the fight day.
Lol, you've already analyzed everything. But I will still advise you don't make you conclusions yet because the reverse can be the case here.

We all know the fight is for the money. Boxers are so luck that they have a career that allow them to fight at such age when they are running out of money.
Even as that, they still have to respect their age no matter how much involved. However, Dudes don't have to stress  themselves or risk it all because they are need of money. What if something serious happens along the line due to old age, this are what they should always think about before jumping on any match just because they're in need of money. Some matches can be very terrible and you can imagine when the person in question is too old and weak to withstand such pressure.

That looks like a good fight, although I'm not familiar with those two fighters, but when I looked into their fights, they were both brutal boxers if I base my statistical records on their fights.

Although it seems like Opetaia is the one I think is better than Wilder due to he's younger and more agile. Though we're not sure if he'll be able to maintain his speed and agility when he adds weight due to this is his first time fighting in a heavyweight battle. If he can last 6 rounds with Wilder, this will be his chance to attack due to Wilder will tire out faster and his stamina will decrease, in my opinion, but if Wilder attacks him, he'll probably be knocked out immediately with the power of his fists.

Deontay was one of the most exciting fighters to watch when he was in his prime. Because of that he still keeps getting fights against big names where he is earning a lot of money. He hasn’t come remotely close to beating a highly ranked contender in many years and has only continued to decline. Wilder still has his power but his timing is awful, he has terrible defense, and several other critical flaws. Opetaia should win this easily, likely by knockout.

Is he avoiding David Benavidez? I thought that this two might go on a collision course later. But Jai might have other plans, maybe this is just a tune up fight for him or get busy fight for this year. I don't think that Wilder still has something left in him, he is already was passed his prime years.

Zuffa creating their own belt, in violation of the Ali Act, was a real setback for Jai. The sanctioning organizations don’t recognize his title and wouldn’t allow him to keep his IBF belt or challenge for the WBC belt. Without a world title, he isn’t a big enough name for Benavidez and Usyk to prioritize him over each other. He might get a chance eventually, but in the meantime he has to stay busy against B-level opponents.
