Sometimes I sit back and wonder about the future of bitcoin.

Over the years, crypto has created opportunities for people to invest, trade and move money across borders. But at the same time, we’ve continued to hear stories of hacked wallets, stolen funds, scams, fraudulent platforms and market crashes. Will people still have the same confidence in cryptocurrency, or will these security challenges gradually push people away?
I know no financial system is completely free from risk, but I believe trust and security are very important for any financial system to survive.

It has been relevant in the last 10 years. People hold it. Institutions are buying it. Even governments are storing it because they believe it is a store of value like gold and a hedge against inflation. Markets are appproving ETFs for people who don't want direct exposure to it. Bitcoin itself, as a protocol and blockchain network has not been hacked in recent times and will likely not be hacked as far as we know at the moment. So there's no doubt that it will continue to be relevant, and that folks who use it as a store of value and hedge against inflation will gain a high ROI 10 years from now.

I expect bitcoin to be above $250000 in the next nine years. I do not what will happen to most other cryptocurrencies than they will be focused and later left for other new cryptocurrencies which will always make cryptocurrencies to be coins of games.

It is not easy to manipulate bitcoin but it is easy to manipulate many altcoins. Make good research before buying any coin and expect that manipulation is possible for low cap cryptocurrencies and few high cap cryptocurrencies.

Why are you so worried? The traditional system have seen worse. Everything happening in the crypto space now has once happened in banking and fiat system. Is fraud, hacking or direct robbery? All of it also happened and still happening in the traditional system but they are still operating. This means the future of Bitcoin is not compromised yet despite the present challenges.

Bitcoin is not perfect. You already said it that no financial system is risk free. Compared to other financial system, bitcoin is still in its early stage, so this challenges are disturbing thou but they are normal to make the network stronger in the future.

When it concerns trust and security of the system, with the lot that has happened lately, it would be wise to say that before 2035 alot would have changed as regards investors prioritizing self custody over exchanges, better wallet security systems that prioritize UX over protocol flaws, and a sovereign P2p layer that would help investors escape local currency degradation amidst price changes and better stability and a greater mass of user adoption, is what I foresee.

The first thought that came to mind when i read the title was MicroStrategy.
This company continues to invest a lot of money in bitcoin even when the market is red. They are one of those that tell us so.
There are so many others out there that continue to do so without telling the public.
This is for organization, how about individuals? Those billionaires and multimillionaires who continue to invest in bitcoin.
Bitcoin will still be relevant either in its current form or a more regulated form.
At some point there will be more wealthy who own it compared to low income earners because it would just be too damn expensive to own.
It will continue to be relevant even until 2050.

Nine years is not a lot of time if you look at it; it just sounds really long, but nine years can go by without you even noticing it. Personally I think Bitcoin would have gained more maturity; that is, many of these present events, like the rampant hacks, will be less occurring, and other future events will just make Bitcoin better. Bitcoin would have gained more acceptance.

By 2035, my prediction is the discussion will no longer be so much about acceptance; the major discussion then will be adoption.

Nothing is going to happen than what is already happening, the highest threat bitcoin could ever get in the future is the quantum threat and I’m certain that the bitcoin community will stills over power it. The hack is worth discussing but don’t you realize that recent hack didn’t have any significant effect on the price as compared to some previous hack? That is exactly what explains to you that the more it grow the more people get know and understand the bitcoin and its infrastructure. So I don’t expect any fall from bitcoin just because of its security architecture or hacks around it. No financial system is immune to all this challenges

About 9 years ago the Bitstamp exchange was hacked by resulting in the loss of 19000 Bitcoin. That incident reportedly occurred on January 2015. But in 2016 or even 2017 the price of Bitcoin actually skyrocketed far surpassing its all-time low. So I personally believe that bad news like that won’t tarnish Bitcoin’s reputation. All of the incidents didn’t occur on the Bitcoin network itself, where it also doesn’t prove that people will shy away from Bitcoin. I’m convinced that sensational news like that will actually make people realize that Bitcoin is the most reliable option. People will also realize that self-custody is the best way to securely store Bitcoin. You don’t need to worry because Bitcoin will remain relevant for another hundred years.

Just because you haven't died in the last 10 years doesn't mean you won't die in the next 10.

The truth is, none of us here have any idea what’s going to happen between now and 2035. I think it’s most likely that Bitcoin will remain relevant in one way or another, but whether it will have surpassed $1 million and become the digital gold or will become an asset that can’t get back on its feet due to hacks, AI, or whatever else—we just can’t know.

Well basically the last Bitcoin is predicted to be mined in the year 2140, and perhaps that's like a different generation entirely. Best to say we can't say for certain how the future of Bitcoin and the cryptocurrency at large would be like but still, one thing I know  is that Bitcoin's value is measured by we, the users so whatsoever it becomes in the future is up to us. Best to say with the recent issues of hacks, I am very sure that the crypto space is becoming way more creepy, but I don't think that's enough to stop us from investing in crypto because to me, I believe everything comes with a risk in life. That said my say here is that developers in this space should try as much as possible to continuously update their security so that they can avoid security issues ,that's all......

Why only next 9 years but not till 2140 year?
9 years is a very short time if you know that since 2009, there are already 17 years in Bitcoin history. 9 years is only a little bit longer than 2 market cycles which can be finished very quickly.

People have to know about Bitcoin controlled supply and How is 21M bitcoin cap defined and enforced, then understand a fact that if they can invest money in bitcoin earlier than the other investors, they have very good advantage in both prices and amount of bitcoin accumulated, then ROI in the future.

One thing is for sure, it's not safe with the exchanges. They're all being targeted by the hackers and only awaits for one big pull of those attempts that they're sending them. While it is impressive that they're able to deal with the losses but, we don't know for how long or until when they can.

We will never know until that time comes. Satoshi has also said something in the past about having huge or no volume at all.

Sure, but I would divide it in two, exchange security and Bitcoin’s own security. The Binance hack was reportedly mostly about people, and exchange security in general is a mix of people and technical weaknesses. Bitcoin's security is all about incentives. Fees are still less than 1% of miner incomes this year, and the subsidy will be 0.78125 BTC per block after the 2032 halving, which works out to about 112 BTC a day. So the fees need to increase or price needs to offset the halving, for that security to hold up by 2035.

People will also realize that self-custody is the best way to securely store Bitcoin.

Self-custody is a helpful but not a foolproof solution. The weak link remains the human, just one person at a time instead of one company.

Including accelerating the development of quantum computers, so in general the next 10 years the developers even need to adjust. Anything that needs to use the internet can't be said to be 100% safe. Bitcoin itself doesn’t have any risk, but the crypto platforms always have risk. We can’t ignore the fact that there will always be these kinds of incidents. From the beginning of the crypto journey, incidents are happening.

Although crypto platforms have been upgrading their security system, on the other hand, hackers are also developing their skills and hacking tools as well. So even after ten years, this kind of incident will happen. There will be challenges, and we have to face them with confidence. Bitcoin will be stronger and will survive.

economies around the world, something drastic is yet to happen to cause in simple terms 'a financial
meltdown', I think the repercussions for a lit of people is that there will be a lot of pain to follow,

I think crypto will still be around even for another decade, but I doubt if it will stay the same. Scams and hacks will still be present and it will be, but I think people will still keep coming. Because people see value in it. For me, the bigger problem isn't really Bitcoin itself, but these platforms and these people we trust with our money.

I think people has become more careful and perceptive over time. We've already seen big exchanges collapse and people lose their life savings and much worst even end their lives. Hoping security will be better. At the end of the day, I don't think crypto is going anywhere, we probably be using it more than the tender one. The real question is whether this industry will learn from past mistakes or just keep repeating the same problem, if it's the former then we probably just keep moving forward.

If you think the recent hacks are going to threaten crypto existence, you really need to wake up. You also need to read the attacks that bitcoin has faced in the early stages. Many people doubted if bitcoin will survive past 10 years. There were those that believed that bitcoin was going to crash few years later and a whole lot of shits were said about bitcoin and crypto at large.
