Yes I understand that everyone including institutions has the right to do whatever they like with their bitcoin stash at any time just like we witnessed micro strategy sales some months ago. All those things are possible but I will say that bitcoin strength will remain regardless. If they sell aggressively, they will still buy back and even though these current whales do not buy back, there's greater adoption on a daily basis which if others are selling, others will be buying.
Bitcoin market is big enough with many investors in it, together with traders and speculators and it's basically a live market with both buyers and sellers. Institutional investors or retail investors or even either traders or speculators in this market, they are all freely to play roles of buyers and sellers at different times.

Through many years, Bitcoin market has grown considerable in both trading volume, Bitcoin price, and total people are interested in and participated in this market. With very good adoption growth of Bitcoin in its history, and with what's happening recently especially since Bitcoin Spot ETF approvals in January 2024, I strongly believe that Bitcoin future is very bullish.

Quote
Both ways, the pressure will be reduced on the market.
The more important thing is Bitcoin market can absorb selling pressure very well and recover with time. It's different than altcoins which can have death spirals and never recovered after such crashes.

Everyone plays important role. Then seeing how we are still running good, despite of those many challenges. That really means Bitcoin will stay for more years and decades, maybe some people have this concern if Bitcoin could able to stay on years said on example what OP write on the title.

But those adoption happening, also the Spot ETF approval is just a start of everything.

Since if they look at the situation now. Many banks are now slowly adopting Bitcoin and make it legal to transact using this coin in their platforms. So yeah same with you, I believe Bitcoin will continue to have bullish future.

It makes me wonder, What will the crypto space look like in the next nine years?

Will people still have the same confidence in cryptocurrency, or will these security challenges gradually push people away?

Next 9 years?, I don't think anyone even has a clue of what's going to happen tomorrow. But if I'm to speculate based on Bitcoin's current growth and how far it has come, well,I think the next 9 years is also going to be a journey of growth. Remember the growth never stops... It's a continuous process because people are still getting to know about it, adoption is still growing, regulations are changing, etc. Although, I can not say the same thing about every cryptocurrency.

And as for security, well, I think the industry and everyone involved will probably make adjustments to protect themselves. I personally don't think the current security challenges is going to reduce the confidence in the industry. Rather, I think they're going to increase awareness.

I used to be absolutely confident in Bitcoin's bright future (even during bear markets).🙋

Now my answer is: "I don't know..." To develop further, Bitcoin needs to overcome several systemic crises. Whether it will survive these crises unscathed or perish, I don't know. 🤷

The first crisis is its relationship with AI. Bitcoin currently competes directly with AI for electricity, computing power, and human attention. Whether Bitcoin can find its place in an AI-dominated world, I don't know. Perhaps AI and Bitcoin will develop a symbiotic relationship, each strengthening the other. That would be ideal!

The second crisis is Bitcoin's interaction with the traditional financial system and governments. Governments refuse to recognize Bitcoin as money and are destroying the privacy of financial transactions. Institutional players are creating "paper Bitcoin" and destroying the network's decentralization.  Bitcoin is inherently antithetical to the modern financial system, so consensus here, in my view, is impossible.

The third crisis is related to quantum computers and advances in mathematical computation. Bitcoin, I believe, can no longer develop at its previous slow pace; everything is too slow... At the same time, Bitcoin Core developers are too conservative for these turbulent times, when everything is happening too fast.🧖

Maybe this is slightly related to quantum vulnerabilities, Bitcoin might undergo a lot of testing. But as computers advance, surely Bitcoin will advance as well. Remember, Bitcoin is a consensus, so along the way we have understood how Bitcoin is able to evolve. So the more it develops, there will likely be a new consensus to follow the times. But let's see how the 2 halvings will go. If Bitcoin is able to reach a new all-time high, trust will increase. But if not, I think there will be a major change, trust will begin to fade, and investors might switch to other coins that are able to endure and are trusted. Currently, the value of Bitcoin plays an important role in the future development of Bitcoin. IMO

Sometimes I sit back and wonder about the future of bitcoin.

Over the years, crypto has created opportunities for people to invest, trade and move money across borders. But at the same time, we’ve continued to hear stories of hacked wallets, stolen funds, scams, fraudulent platforms and market crashes. Even major platforms like Binance have experienced security breaches and big whales manipulating prices. Incidents like these make me wonder how safe our funds really are, especially for ordinary people who trust crypto with their hard earned money.

It makes me wonder, What will the crypto space look like in the next nine years?

Will people still have the same confidence in cryptocurrency, or will these security challenges gradually push people away?
I know no financial system is completely free from risk, but I believe trust and security are very important for any financial system to survive.

Personally, I think it’s worth having this conversation.

in 2035 it will likely have value.

In 2055 not so sure.

2009 to 2012 10.5 million mined 10.5 million left
2012 to 2016   5.25 million mined total of 15.75 million leaving only 5.25 million
2016 to 2020   2.625 million mined total of 18.375 million leaving only 2,625,000 coins
2020 to 2024   1,312,500 mined total of  19,687,500 coins leaving only 1,312,500 coins
2024 to 2028      656,250 mined total of          20,343,750 coins leaving only    656,250 coins
2028 to 2032      328,125 mined total of          20,671,875 coins leaving only    328,125 coins
2032 to 2036      164,062.5 mined total of       20,835,937.5 coins leaving only  164,062.5 coins    coins need to be over 500k to continue big mining

2036 to 2040        82,031.25 mined total of          20,917,968.75 coins leaving only 82,031.25 coins
2040 to 2044        41,015.625 mined total of         20,958,984.375 coins leaving only 41,031.25 coins
2044 to 2048        20,507.8125 mined total of        20,979,492.1875 coins leaving only 20,507.8125 coins
2048 to 2052        10,253.90625 mined total of       20,980,546.09375 coins leaving only 10,253.90625 coins
2052 to 2056          5,126.953125 mined total of     20,985,673.046875 coins leaving only 5,126.953125 coins price needs to be over 8 million to continue mining

to me if BTC fails due to lack of fees and price it will happen in under 30 years time

so 2035 maybe okay but I do not see 2056 working out well.

if we had done 6 minute blocks

2012 = 2014
2016 = 2020
2020 = 2026      we would be at 6.25 coins per block  not 3.125
2024 = 2032
2028 = 2038
2032 = 2044     we would be at 0.78125 coins per block not 0.04882812
2036 = 2050
2040 = 2056
2044 = 2062
2048 = 2068
2052 = 2074
2056 = 2080

And as for security, well, I think the industry and everyone involved will probably make adjustments to protect themselves. I personally don't think the current security challenges is going to reduce the confidence in the industry. Rather, I think they're going to increase awareness.

I think we’ll see continued growth in the crypto space over the coming years, however not all of them will last. While Bitcoin has gained a good amount of trust over the years, there are plenty of other coins who still have to prove themselves.
 While you’re right to say that this can raise awareness, I don’t believe this will be the case for all incidents. Some will take something away from it whilst others just lose trust and exit the market having lost money.
 Overall I think we will see further adoption over the next 9 years, although there will also be projects lost.

I expect that only a newbie or novice let me say will be asking such question if bitcoin will be relevant still 2035, we have been saying this overtime that bitcoin has come to stay and this is what every one of us should understand. It was not introduced to serve a short-term purpose but to have a lifetime existence, as well as serving as an alternative currency or asset; therefore, it has come to stay.

We have said it plenty of times, and most of us firmly believe Bitcoin will be around for much longer than that. But belief is not the same as certainty. And Bitcoin proven it can survive and grow for almost 2 decade, but that does not mean next 10, 20 years will look the same.

None of us showed up from the future. So nobody knows what is waiting 9-10 years down the road. So asking where Bitcoin will be by then doesn't make someone a clueless newbie. It just means they're not treating their own expectations as a sure thing.

Bitcoin has already reached 18 years of existence, and within that long period, bitcoin has remain highly uncertain and unpredictable. So asking what will be  its future, none of us can give us certain answer. And that makes us question every time if bitcoin would still be the same within the next 10-20 years, regardless if we are still newbies or not.

But one thing is certain, there will surely be positive changes and progress for bitcoin before the year 2035. The same questions we raise way back 2008, that until now we start to question again what will be the future of bitcoin.

Sometimes I sit back and wonder about the future of bitcoin.

It is actually natural to have thoughts like these.
In fact, sometimes when I sit lost in thought while enjoying my morning coffee, I wonder:
Will I still be able to do this tomorrow morning? Will I still be breathing?

The same applies to Bitcoin. To me, such concerns are only natural. One might worry whether BTC will still be around in the coming years, or whether this forum will, for that matter. And what about cryptocurrencies in general?

But then again, we must ensure that we don’t lean too far into negative thinking. Everything has its own path, so let’s try to approach this rationally. With the current supply of Bitcoin and the state of the cryptocurrency landscape, I still feel very confident that BTC will endure. And, of course, I believe its value will continue to rise even further.

2035 is less than 10 years so absolutely I expect Bitcoin to be relevant. I would be surprised if it’s not over $250,000 a coin in 2035.

With increased institutional interest, more regulatory clarity and increased adoption the only way is up long term.

The past years of Bitcoin's existence has thought me that. It has a lot of potential to do better in the future, it's still decentralized, the supply didn't change, more institutions are adopting it and it has attained six figures before so the future of Bitcoin could be more relevant in the next 10 years.

I know that quantum threats and other obstacles hindering the growth of Bitcoins bring such thoughts like the OP'S but I've learnt to be very optimistic about Bitcoin and i believe the future is shinning brighter.

Is Bitcoin still being used from 2009 to 2026 or not? Everyone will say yes, if it is happening, then this question will continue to be used as a means of investment and trade until 2035. If nothing more dangerous happens with Bitcoin until then, then the use of Bitcoin will continue to increase in the same way. If Bitcoin is controlled by someone's pressure, then perhaps its price may decrease, which has been created among people. Bitcoin has now become quite necessary among people because it has changed the lives of many people and many better businesses have also started with it. People have shown interest in it and as long as there are big investors, they will invest with Bitcoin and continue to earn profits. If we have money, we can buy Bitcoin ourselves in 2035 and if DCA is done from today, we can be successful.

Do You Think Bitcoin Will Still Be Relevant in 2035?
By looking at the scarcity that Bitcoin has and also the potential for institutional adoption and other reasons, I think that Bitcoin is projected to be very relevant in 2035, maybe more than that, it could be that Bitcoin will become one of the main foundations in the system. global digital currency.

Nevertheless, the challenges remain, to get to the relevant journey is not smooth, as we see currently Bitcoin is always bumping and facing various challenges such as:
• Global regulatory challenges, To make Bitcoin relevant in 2035, of course there must be support from governments around the world, especially those that must support such as the US, European Union and Asia, not to limit crypto movements so that Bitcoin is relevant, that is the current and future challenge.
• Next, we must carry out technological scalability, Bitcoin users must use Layer-2 such as the Lightning Network, if it is successful, of course Bitcoin will no longer be seen as an investment and trading asset, instead it will be used as a daily transaction and so on.

It was actually newbie that asked the question and he/she haven’t read or know more about bitcoin if not he/she wouldn’t have asked because the answer isn’t something new to those that have idea of what bitcoin is.
However you are right, bitcoin isn’t all about short term but bitcoin is about future and bitcoin is here to stay. Bitcoin hasn’t  given us any reasons for us to have doubt in it growth and thinking of it as something that wouldn’t be relevant in the next 10pm us years.
There are new developments coming up and new ideas too but I don’t think this could give bitcoin the end goal about it no moving further towards it future.

Nevertheless, the challenges remain, to get to the relevant journey is not smooth, as we see currently Bitcoin is always bumping and facing various challenges such as:
Challenges change with time and fortunately Bitcoin has already gone through hardest time in its history, that is the very earliest years since January 2009.

• Global regulatory challenges, To make Bitcoin relevant in 2035, of course there must be support from governments around the world, especially those that must support such as the US, European Union and Asia, not to limit crypto movements so that Bitcoin is relevant, that is the current and future challenge.
I believe that global regulatory challenge will become more tighter with AML/ KYC, source of bitcoins, and tax with crazy proposal for taxing on unrealized capital gain like what's proposed in the Netherlands.

• Next, we must carry out technological scalability, Bitcoin users must use Layer-2 such as the Lightning Network, if it is successful, of course Bitcoin will no longer be seen as an investment and trading asset, instead it will be used as a daily transaction and so on.
There are some projects for Bitcoin side chain, not only Bitcoin Lightning Network but adoption is still limited.
