What is the difference between a pre-sale and a pre-IPO? I've been in the crypto space for a while now, and I've done a lot of degen trading and even a bit of DeFi. To crown it all, I've bought more pre-sale tokens and seen returns of up to 3x and even 5x (Still remember jellyjelly like yesterday). So, I'm trying to explain myself so you will understand how much I know about pre-sales, but pre-IPO seems different to me, as I only heard about it when a friend was literally begging me to participate in the SpaceX pre-IPO on Bitget Pre-IPO Prime then.

It later did massive numbers. I think when it was eventually listed on the public market, its ATH was around $225, and my friend had subscribed at a price of $140, meaning he almost got 2x the allocation price he paid. To me, that's still better than nothing.

Now that it's Anthropic (Claude AI) everyone is talking about and saying it's going public in the next few days, I really want to explore its pre-IPO, as it seems like another route for eligible traders to explore early IPO allocation opportunities. What would be your advice for me if you had explored this same path before?

Presales are often used in crypto to sell a coin that is not yet listed on exchanges at cheaper price before it is launched on exchanges if the project become successful.

Pre-IPO is when a private company are selling stocks before the IPO begin.

Anthropic can worth buying but know that the price of the pre-ipo for those huge buyers will be lower than the IPO price. Do not expect short term profit because the stock price may first rise and later fall. But if the company progress, expect the stock price to increase.

One thing that helps me make decision in times like these' "time in the market beats timing the market."
Both those who believe they'll but when the share price will dip after listing and those who don't believe in IPO's can both benefit from this philosophy.

Nothing new from what PostQuantumBTC said. The difference between the two is that one is a crypto term, while the other is a stock term. Mostly private companies.

In my country, Dangote launched his IPO a few months ago. It is something similar to that.

I don't buy pre sales event due to prevent experince with some pre-sales event in the past. I lost half of my savings to pre-coin offerings.

Presales is not only used in crypto, it is also used in some other place. Example is in cars and automobiles that some people will have reservations. Another example is in phone pre-order, though the buyers do not pay the money in full immediately but pay part of the money. These are not investment but you can also see it in real estates which is investment.
