Bro, I didn't know about gambling platforms, but some were attacked and drained. But the majority were DeFi projects, like bridging platforms. Then they started attacking the BTC ecosystem. Coldcard was the biggest attack, which broke the trust of many. Then the Ledger wallet supply chain incident made things even worse and destroyed people's trust.

That's why the majority are fearing this, but this is not new. Some of it happened before, and everyone will forget, so I am not worried, but the threats are only going to increase.

I know people that when ever you mention bitcoin or crypto to them they just assume you’re into scam and other things related to online fraud. It is one of the major concerns, especially when it comes to widespread adoption. The mantra that everyone loves to preach here is "not your wallet, not your coins" however the average consumer that we need to convince to maintain long term viability in crypto is simply not that interested in downloading the blockchain and any of the faff that comes along with holding your own wallet. There will be a lot of non-technical people who have money and willingness to put it into things like Bitcoin, but they simply don't have the time to learn. That means they need to rely on these exchanges that are generally pretty solid. One of the major benefits but also a problem when things go wrong is the lack of reversibility of most of the original forms of crypto. Once it's stolen it's gone forever and people would rather stick with bank accounts or credit cards which offer a layer of protection along with recovery.
