Man, $700 million is a tonne of money. These guys aren't stupid; you can see how much Polymarket and Kalshi are moving. It's absurd. I believe the trend is for casinos to start integrating prediction markets; this will create a complete ecosystem and further increase profits.

This is already something that was actually going to happen. If casinos and sport book providers are too silent, they will lose their audience and revenue to Poly market and its competitors. If exchanges can take up the challenge, then it was just a matter of time for casinos to start making the same move. Drafrafking just took it to a whole level to show how serious and prepared they are for their market.

It's the right move for them IMO because prediction markets are kind of parimutuel/pool betting system, it's not the bookmaker who pays the winnings it's just the other customer. The sportbook just take the fees, so it doesn't need anymore to track bettors better than its models and inner bettors, neither to pray that bad luck won't destroy their treasury with many customers winning bets at high odds at the same time. They don't have to manage those risks with prediction markets, and as DraftKings CEO Jason Robins said in the article non-sport events can attract many people not specialists of sports, and then getting new customers.

Imo, this move would make more sense if their prediction market product will be opened globally and not just to US citizens. Big sportbooks will only follow suit if prediction market keeps attracting more interest. For now, I don't think prediction market will stop attracting interests because whether we admit it or not, the world have moved towards degeneracy now more than ever.

I think it's the right move. I mean, they are already a gambling platform, they already have a lot of regular gamblers coming back to their paltform, and prediction markets are really popular right now, so tapping into that market is a logical(I think) move to make. Now, if we are going to talk about if whether their prediction market will be able to compete at the same level as Kalsi and Polymarket, I'm not sure. Those two prediction market platforms are huge in the market, and they have a lot of backing from people in high positions.

Despite several scandals of insider trading that rock the prediction market, we are still seeing growing interest of investor in this business. Sincerely, I don't know what these guys see in the prediction market that motivate them to make these big investments. Maybe it is highly profitable and possibly as they have made effort to distance themselves from gambling thereby appearing clean in the eyes of the old money. I'm not in the possible to know if this is a right or wrong investment decision because I believe that before making the move, they would have done their feasibility studies.

Many things like these are always part of this because some time back stock exchanges and other markets also had situations like this, but as investment increased and they had enough liquidity, they were having better results, and things are going on at a good level. The predictions market is in early stages, and they are having bold decisions; it's going to take time to see the consequences.
People are starting to engage in this market recently. A few good changes also happen, which are good because companies like these always bring good changes, and people's confidence also increased. Hopefully this big move is going to have a good start for them, and they could be able to take a good share from here in the near future.

Prediction market gather lots of revenue, so this action made by DraftKings is not really surprising.

Well, that was I think imminent considering they are monopolizing something that so huge the people are getting crazy over this but hoping DraftKings will be able to say that it's pure gambling than entertainment. With how positioned DK is I think they'll do that and if thry can get a share of that market they'll for sure get that ROI in no time. Can't tell if they do but I guess competition will be massive with how DK moves.

Sure, I think they have done the right choice from a business perspective. If they did not invest in prediction markets, then it would be just a matter of time before Polymarket and Kalshi catch all the market share and volume of prediction markets.

They already have an important base of costumers and bettors, so they will be able to compete against Kalshi and perhaps against polymarket in the long term.
Not even mention they already have a gambling/betting license so regulators won't be a problem to them.
