Heads up if you buy mining or AI hardware on AmazonAI educator Nick Saraev says he ordered several
Nvidia DGX Spark units on Amazon on Oct 31. Every order was cancelled, and then Amazon
closed his whole account. Epic's Tim Sweeney says his orders for two Nvidia GPUs were cancelled too, though his account stayed open.
What we know so far:- Amazon gave no reason beyond a "careful review" and earlier verification attempts
- Amazon support offered a review about 3 hours before the account was closed
- No public statement from Amazon, and no sign the account has been reinstated
- A September forum post describes "suspicious activity locks" while buying other AI hardware
Why it probably happens: several high-value orders in a row look like a stolen card or a hijacked account to automated fraud checks. Scarce AI hardware makes retailers quick to cancel anything that looks like bulk buying.
If you're buying hardware:- Buy direct or from an authorised reseller for anything expensive
- One order, one payment method, shipped to your billing address
- Don't split a bulk buy into lots of separate orders, which is exactly what trips the checks
- Keep the invoices, since you may need them to appeal

Amazon closes Nick Saraev account over DGX Spark ordersHas anyone here had orders cancelled or an account locked buying ASICs or GPUs from Amazon or Newegg? Curious whether it's only Nvidia gear.
