It's unfortunate, but blame it on the current economic system designed to make us look for money in all ways in order to survive and avoid being "broke" or suffering with poverty. Some people genuinely earn the money, while others won't be bothered if they use dirty ways to acquire it.

A lot of people are definitely into crypto to just make money and not really focus on the technology behind it. I must admit that, much as I have learnt a lot about crypto and used it sometimes to my advantage, I have also made money off it (generally, of course  )

Despite that all of those new technologies(projects) that are being offered to the public. Why not look at the existing ones? it doesn't have to be too robust as they say and boasts about speeds and cheapness of their fees. What matters these days IMHO is about the stability of the project so that it won't be too worrying at all if ever you invest on it. The bad projects, the scams and all those slop projects will never be gone in the industry and that's why being informed and good in decision making will make you flee from those. So, don't bite on those beautiful words on how they describe their projects when they have never delivered good results.

This scenario was already predictable; it was unlikely that we would see many altcoins offering distinct technologies or unique purposes. Given that many projects would inevitably turn out to be mere copies with only minor tweaks and because people, focusing primarily on price, weren't particularly demanding the market was bound to end up exactly as it is today. Nowadays, you even see people reacting to photos of subpar content with heart emojis or comments like "Beautiful, I like it..." while, in reality, they actually hate what they’re seeing. This is precisely what is happening in the cryptocurrency market today.

Look at the amount of money being moved by people because of this nonsensical altcoin $40.83 million is a lot of money. The team behind this token likely executed a strong marketing strategy, leading people to buy into something that makes no sense. They know it’s pointless, but they lack the courage to say so publicly; instead, they choose to turn a blind eye to the project’s negative aspects and focus solely on potential profits. The saddest part is that only those who bought in December 2023 and sold at the peak in January 2025 actually made a profit; ever since then, it has only resulted in losses.



If these people had focused solely on buying Bitcoin, they would have made a significant profit over the years; instead, driven by greed, they let themselves be misled into this altcoin and to this day, there may still be people holding this pointless altcoin.

Greed. It's the thing with human nature. People realized that Bitcoin did well, and they didn't have an opportunity to be top holders so instead of buying into it like the rest of us, they simply defaulted to create new ones and that's how we have ended up with millions of tokens on Ethereum, Solana and other EVM chains like robinhood and Base network.

The root of it all is greed and that hasn't changed.

It’s quite unfortunate that we are not longer in the position where technology is the core interest in the crypto space instead it’s more like we are just here to grab a few dollars as possible regardless of how it comes in. Well what have you learned about it? Vision behind altcoin is pretty vague thing, as everyone has a different viewpoint on what it should be. Even if it's about decentralization in general, people have many different views on why, how and what for it should be decentralized.

But you are talking about some "core", like there would have been a golden age where people cared only about it. That's not ever been the case. Even though there are people interested about it, i would say that majority of the people who are praising the "core idea", are doing it, because that's a good thing to say when those fundamentals are supposedly giving value to their bags.

For most people this has always been about money, and money-grabbing grifters since i came in in end of 2013. Some of these grifters are just less obvious about it.

I don’t think this is a place where you can still learn much or develop yourself. The crypto space is currently overflowing with completely hollow projects absurd ventures created solely to generate hype, lacking any real innovation. This is a truly disheartening experience for many people. Perhaps this trend will eventually shift or change, but for now, I don’t see anything to get excited about when it comes to altcoins.

That's because the community has grown to the point where even scammers and Ponzi scheme operators have joined, bringing their work here; they go where the money is.

The industry is saturated, so there is a need for people to discern truth from falsehood, and you can only do that if you are equipped with the knowledge.

We face many problems in real life, and we can solve the vast majority of them with altcoins. In fact, the most important issue here is whether people actually need cryptocurrencies to solve these problems. And to be honest, I don’t think there’s such strong demand yet...

Bitcoin has established itself as a store of value and will continue to maintain that position, but people aren’t looking to it as a solution for any problems in their daily lives. That’s why the field is really left to scammers rather than people who are actually developing projects. When we start seeking cryptocurrency-based solutions for our everyday problems, altcoins will find the value they deserve...

Many get involved in altcoins not because of the technology, but because of the potential for better multiplication of returns compared to Bitcoin (BTC). Token creators eventually realized this, which has turned the current altcoin landscape into something akin to Las Vegas. Well, it has happened & it will continue to happen. However, if you have a genuine interest in learning about & getting involved with altcoins, there are still some good options, such as top tier coins or tokens that you can look into yourself on platforms like CoinMarketCap or CoinGecko.

It's this money-grabbing grifters that's gradually killing crypto because people are so afraid in investing in crypto so that they won't lose their money to crypto projects that want to trick people out their money. Almost everyone building crypto project want to make money, they can build a crypto project and end up rug pulling it. I don't think that's going to happen because of diversity; there are honest and greedy investors, and it's for you to decide where you put your money, on high-risk investments like shitcoins or projects with use cases that move the industry forward to better serve the community.

It's them shitcoins and VCs . For real though it's because VCs want to flip money and do 10x or even 100x in a year they started funding so many projects, hyping it up, and dumped when it's time for token generation event. The VCs got big allocation and most of the time own 35% supply or even more. They are creating economy out of thin air and turn their 2 million investment into 35% of 500 million dollar economy. It's the reason why you see grifter economy growing in the crypto space. It gets worse when shitcoins become more rampant and several projects facilitating launch of shitcoins so every KOLs could suck their followers' money dry. I'm not saying those VC funded project are absolutely bad, they bring many innovations but at the expense of retailer becoming the sucker and retailer have no money for investment anymore.

Money is the only thing that makes the world go round, so am not that surprised that technology is a forgotten story, and it's more about money than anything else. Although the technology is still visible for all to see, but making money is more of the center of attention this days.

Some people or investors came into the industry because of the technological aspect of it, but because of the money making opportunity they later discovered, they switched fully to invest or trading, since they stands a better chances of making money from it.
