History:Geocaching is an outdoor recreational activity, in which the participants use a Global Positioning System (GPS) receiver or mobile device and other navigational techniques to hide and seek containers, called "geocaches" or "caches", anywhere in the world. Geocaches of larger sizes contain trinkets, toys, and coins among other items. The unwritten rule is to leave at least as much value as you take after signing the log book.
In recent years the geocoin has gained popularity. These coins can be large or small and are meant to be moved from cache to cache with a specific travel goal in mind. Others are placed “into the wild” with no particular destination attached. Geocoin travels can be tracked online by the original owner or anyone that enters the coin’s code on certain websites. It is in the spirit of the wandering yet coveted geocoin that we created the Electronic GeoCache Coin (EGCC).
