Can't put it on around my gf -- she thought it was "boring" get new gf srsly Nahhhh... it wasn't the subject matter that turned her off, she just doesn't enjoy documentaries. And I don't really enjoy fiction. We share many other common interests though.

My wife and I saw the Los Angeles premiere of Transcendent Man, and the subsequent Q&A with Kurzweil. Amazing stuff, it's part of the reason I'm a long-term bull. I justified the investment as "rent for our uploads". Do yourselves a favor and marry other nerds. There's nothing like a spouse who understands big picture stuff.

Meh, there are enough nerds that are emotionally stable and communicate well. Stigmas are for weak people (rough translation from Hebrew, where this actually sounds good).

scarcity of hot nerds?

This is not some pseudoeconomic post-modern Libertarian cult, it's an un-led, crowd-sourced mega startup organized around mutual self-interest where problems, whether of the theoretical or purely practical variety, are treated as temporary and, ultimately, solvable. Censorship of e-gold was easy. Censorship of Bitcoin will be… entertaining.

The problem with Ray Kurzweil is he has a very poor comprehension of just how complex biological systems are, and how little we currently know about them. I think there was even a biologist interviewed for The Transcendant Man who said the same thing. I've read, and agree, that as much as 70% of published biology and social science data are false positives. We really are still flailing around in those fields.
Also, neuroscience has all the hot nerd girls for some reason. Probably marine biology too.

Centralized inspection ensures that the coins are mined at a pace determined in advance. The principle of mining ensures that the currency will never suffer from inflation. The quantity of coins is limited and supervised by a central agency. They certainly did their homework! +1 certainly everybody knows that satoshi nakamotos real name is satoshi nakamura
