I created 4 private keys offline in Bitcoin-QT 9.0 via TailsOS. My client never touched the internet, do I need to bring my cold storage online to create 4 new wallets in 9.1?

Cliffs >

Downloaded Bitcoin-QT 0.9.0
Disconnected from Internet
Generated 4 Private Keys
Wrote them down
Formatted USB

Are my coins still safe or do I need to download 0.9.1 or w/e due to the bug

I created 4 private keys offline in Bitcoin-QT 9.0 via TailsOS. My client never touched the internet, do I need to bring my cold storage online to create 4 new wallets in 9.1?

Cliffs >

Downloaded Bitcoin-QT 0.9.0
Disconnected from Internet
Generated 4 Private Keys
Wrote them down
Formatted USB

Are my coins still safe or do I need to download 0.9.1 or w/e due to the bug

The bug is only a concern if your bitcoin-qt was connected to the internet.  The bug allows someone to access areas of RAM over the internet to capture your private keys.

If the wallet that you used to generate the private keys was never connected to the internet while it was running, then you should be ok.

Just make sure, if you ever decide to import those private keys to spend any of those bitcoins, that you don't use 0.9.0 while connected to the internet.

You already created a thread asking this question, and it is already answered.  Why are you creating another thread asking the exact same thing?

Hi, I created 4 paper wallets with Bitcoin-QT offline and the client never touched the internet as I disconnected the TailsOS USB after I had copied down the private keys & addresses.

Do I still need to create 4 new paper wallets in Bitcoin-QT 0.9.1 due to the bug? Or am I safe because I didn't allow my wallet to touch the internet...

thx.

you're safe as long as the private keys were not in contact with the internet.

I wanted to get a few opinions, sorry for the multiple threads. I just get paranoid since it isn't a small amount of Bitcoin at stake (Mid-High double figures). Plus my private keys are stored in a safety deposit box so I needed to know if I need to replace them.

It is only a concern if you were connected to the net AND either had rpc ssl enabled or were using the payment protocol. Just connecting to the net is not sufficient reason to change wallets.

Certainly, but the OP specifically stated that the paper wallets were created on a wallet that was NEVER connected to the net at all.

Please explain to me why it matters if rpcssl was enabled? (or how they could have used the payment protocol?)

It doesn't matter to the OP. It matters to anyone else who might be reading this and thinking that just going online is enough to compromise your wallet.
