I am wondering the impact of the merged mining on LTC/DOGE if DOGE community agrees to proposal of merged mining with LTC.

Is there any price chart of NMC before and after merged mining?
Thanks!

I think merged mining is the pool's choice, nothing to do with the devs but I might be wrong  Tongue

I would love to understand the concept of merged mining... I mean, if one algorithm sucks such immense processing power for the one coin, how on earth can you merge another one without impacting performance processing the independent blockchains?? Completely baffles me, which is no surprised at all.

You merge mine coins that use the same mining algorithm.

Basically you throw the same lottery ticket at both lottos to see if you win.  Wink

As far as I remember NMC was being merge mined "secretly" by Eligius when I started mining there Oct 2012 and it basically killed the price.

Some accuse merge mining of being a way to keep me-too alt coin prices floored.

You're wrong.

Merged mining is something the second coin (the one merge mining against the first coin) needs to explicitly support.
It's the choice of the coin devs, not the pools or miners.

In the case suggested for doge/ltc. LTC would stay as is and Doge would hardfork to merged mine against LTC.
