What would you do if you were transported to January 2013?

I would:

Buy $2,000 worth of Tesla stock at $30, sell at $250 in March 2014. Profit = $17,000
Buy $2,000 worth of bitcoins at $13, sell at $1200 in November. Profit = $200,000
Buy $2,000 worth of litecoins at $0.07, sell at $48 in November. Profit = $1,400,000!!

Then I would retire.

Instead, being the idiot that I am, I did the following:

Bought 1 year of college education for $6,000, unable to sell. Profit = $0.

Once a transaction has 6 confirmations, it is extremely unlikely that an attacker without at least 50% of the network's computation power would be able to reverse it.

I would invest all of my money in LTC, wait until November, sell them all and retire! Grin
Or maybe build my own country (I seem to get back to that idea)...

Buy or mine a hell lot of BTC and LTC, sell half of them in Nov 2013, put the rest half in cold wallet and HODL them.
Then retire for the rest of my life; spend a lot on hot chicks, probably thailand. Grin

Instead of crying what could you have done you should think what now you can do with your money.

There still will be a lot of possibilities ahead of us. Especially one is getting very close.

1) I'd spend all my Liberty Reserve bucks to buy LTC.
2) I's withdraw all funds from MtGox to buy more LTC.

Bought 1 year of college education for $6,000, unable to sell. Profit = $0.

At least you got education and are able to calculate your profit and loss now.

Hindsight is a wonderful game, but in reality - once you change anything the results become unpredictable.
Lets say we all bought a ton in January - who is to say that the subsequent crash and nice little hiccups like inputs.io or mtgox wouldn't have happened earlier - or if there would have been a recovery at all?

In January 2013, the BTC was going at $15. And better, the LTC was exchanging against BTC at a rate of 0.0025

So, I'd buy as much BTC as possible, and then convert them to LTC. Later, I'll sell those Litecoins when the exchange rate reaches 0.035 BTC
