Let's get CGB back in the news! Who are the journalistic types in our community? Come out and submit a story about CGB for this competition! Ideally we can have the winning story get published by a media outlet, but first lets get the material! Please submit your original news story on CGB to this thread. (Some story examples can be CGB's life cycle, the authors take on investment opportunity, CGB's new direction, other). Get creative and make it fun and interesting. Entries can be submitted up until April 13th, 2014. Once all have been submitted, I will review with the team and decide on the winners. (Reddit votes will also be factored in when making the decision so please up vote the stories you like).

  • 1st place = 100 CGB
  • 2nd place = 60 CGB
  • 3rd place = 40 CGB

Excellent entry courtesy of paulmaritz!

Quote
Is It A Bird? Is It A Plane? Is It Superman?
Is it a bird? Is it a plane? Is it Superman? No, it is Cryptogenic Bullion! The cryptolicious, digital commodity from planet Earth, the home of Homo sapiens and the former home of Homo erectus, Homo habilis and of the dodo. So why should you care about Cryptogenic Bullion, or in short, CGB?
The predicament…
The centralized systems on planet Earth for most part had been taken over by an alien breed. This alien breed uses it to destroy and enslave Homo sapiens. We need to take action or we will vanish from the face of this planet.
Yes, we are standing at crossroads and have to ask ourselves: Do we really want to continue to put up with corrupt centralized systems while it is within our power to help bring positive change into this world via decentralized systems? Do we really want to self-destruct and follow the way of the dodo or join our fate with that of Homo erectus or Homo habilis? Are we not sick and tired of being slaves? Are we not yearning for a new tomorrow, an establishment in which dwells peace and justice to the fullest and truest extent of the words? Don’t we wish to destroy the insufficiencies and thievery that exist as a result of the status quo?
If the above questions resonate with you on any level, and you wish to help bring positive change into this world in a non-violent and legal manner, then be sure to read on.
Part of the solution…
Part of the solution to the predicament or extremely unpleasant situation we face is the embracement of digital or cryptographic currencies.
Now the primary purpose of this article is not to address every single reason of why the embracement of digital currencies can be deemed an answer (or to refute the naysayers for that matter), but rather to focus on Cryptogenic Bullion (CGB) and the role this rare, secure, energy and cost efficient digital currency and commodity can play in a non-violent fight against all the corruption and inefficiencies that are at the heart of most centralized systems today. The truth be told, Cryptogenic Bullion (CGB) can do for planet Earth what Superman did for the City of Kandor on planet Krypton, when he crushed the alien Brainic and restored the city to its former glory in the Last Stand of New Krypton.
Now CGB is not Superman, but merely a tool. This is why it is important that you learn more about Cryptogenic Bullion (CGB) and decide how you are going to contribute, because make no mistake about it, your help is needed. The fact of the matter is that we need to help each other in order to help us all and we can do so by embracing CGB as one of our primary currencies (or assets) of choice.
The birth of an interest bearing, low inflation, cryptographic virtual commodity…
CGB was launched or released late June 2013 and was designed with the primary focus on investors.
This Proof of Work/Proof of Stake (PoW/PoS) hybrid saw an accelerated mining period followed by rapidly declining inflation. The mining period kicked off with a reward of 10 CGB per block and has ever since been halving more or less every 30 days. This will happen until the baseline reward of 0.01 CGB per block is reached, where it will remain forever. This low baseline reward will only contribute 0.5% (or half a percent) annually to the overall inflation rate of 2%.
Furthermore, up to 1.5% of the remaining inflation will be rewarded to the most prudent holders of CGB in the form of interest payments. The baseline reward mentioned is expected to be reached within a year after launch, which will give or take, be around June this year (2014). The moment this happens, the maximum annual inflation rate will be penned at 2% (0.5% PoW & 1.5% PoS inflation), bringing an end to the volatile inflationary stage earmarked by plenty of price swings. This will make CGB the ideal cryptographic virtual commodity to hold, especially if you choose to get in at current price levels.
To qualify for interest payments investors must keep their funds unspent in their CGB wallets for a minimum of 30 days (for 1.2% interest), and up to a maximum of 90 days (1.5% interest).
CGB as a currency…
Cryptogenic Bullion (CGB), a digital commodity as mentioned, possesses all the qualities of money and can successfully be exchanged as a global currency if and when needed. E.g. like gold, it is portable, divisible, fungible, scarce, low inflation, durable, non-consumable, and a store of wealth. It can be stored in a private safe and yet transferred across the globe in minutes.
The fact that CGB has a 60 seconds block time and is divisible down to 6 decimal places, also contributes to the fact that it can successfully be used as a global currency.
The specs…
CGB has the following specifications:
Proof of Work/Proof of Stake Hybrid – Great in terms of network security and also helps to make CGB energy and cost efficient.
Algorithm: Scrypt – This is theoretically a much safer algorithm to use than SHA-2, a family of cryptographic hash functions that includes SHA-256, which is used by Bitcoin.
Linear difficulty retarget (every 2 blocks)
5 Confirmations – This combined with a 60 second block time makes relatively fast transaction times possible, while no compromise is made in terms of security.
60 Second block time
1.5% Annual interest earned
Subsidy halving after every 50k blocks until perpetual reward of 0.01
Target ~1,000,000 CGB – This combined with 2% annual inflation makes CGB rare, especially when compared to the multi-millions, billions or even trillions of coins flooding the marketplace.
0.5% PoW & 1.5% PoS inflation – This is great in terms of both network security and to reward those who support the network.
Based on Peercoin & Novacoin
It should be clear from the above that the developers or creators of CGB have placed a lot of thought into its creation, because where various other coins by design fail to address many of the challenges faced, including Bitcoin, CGB provides state-of-the art, built-in solutions.
What makes CGB different from Bitcoin?
Cryptogenic Bullion (CGB), like Bitcoin (BTC), brings fast global payments, decentralization, pseudo-anonymity, and non-reversible transactions to the table. However, CGB takes it several steps further with many improvements, especially if one considers that a critical requirement for storing wealth is a low inflation rate.
The CGB development team…
The current CGB development team is outstanding to say the least. They are not only very accessible, but take the time to frequently provide the CGB community with updates (e.g. “CGB Core Team Weekly Update”). In addition, they spent a great deal of personal time to make improvements to CGB, technically and otherwise. This is excellent, especially if one considers the decentralized nature of digital currencies, including CGB. We of course don’t seek a central issuing authority where power is centralized, but needless to say, it is great to have a development team that is actively involved.
Where can I get more info?

How can we submit articles if we do not use reddit? When does the competition close? Do we get critiqued on our grammar and such?

Great questions! If you do not use Reddit, you can still enter by posting here. I will cross post to Reddit. The competition goes through this Sunday the 13th (may extend if absolutely necessary). At that point I would like to allow 1 week for voting and review and then announce the winners around Monday the 21st. I can correct grammar and spelling if necessary, mainly looking at content here.

This is up to the author, but long enough to be informative yet short enough to keep the reader's attention. Paul's entry is a good size in my opinion.

Also, I went ahead and added links to the website, BCT ANN, and Reddit for those interested in more information.

Looking forward to your submission Monetizer!

Extending the contest thru Easter Sunday, April 20th, 2014.

A second excellent submission from paulmaritz below!

Quote
What Is Cooler Than Liquid Gold?
What is cooler than liquid gold? Yes, what is cooler than Liquid Gold Hair Products, Alpha-H Liquid Gold, Brackley’s Liquid Gold or Heaven’s Hell Vodka Liquid Gold? What is cooler than liquid gold that flows in a gold smelting furnace at a 1,948°F?
This answer is: Cryptogenic Bullion (CGB)
Whether you’re a professional businessman, a model or the dog of the neighborhood, a kid with a skate board and a dream, a baby sucking on a dummy, the gardener resting under a tree, the asshole politician or the “If You Don’t Hold It, You don’t Own It” gold/silver stacker… I am absolutely convinced Cryptogenic Bullion, or in short CGB, will become cooler than cool to you when you give it the attention it deserves. I mean, the price is right and the specs are spot on, what more can one ask for?
What exactly is Cryptogenic Bullion (CGB)?
To give a short and even shorter answer…
CGB is a digital commodity that possesses all the qualities of money and can successfully be exchanged as a global currency if and when needed. E.g. like gold, it is portable, divisible, fungible, scarce, low inflation, durable, non-consumable, and a store of wealth. It can be stored in a private safe and yet transferred across the globe in minutes. Yes, CGB is a “a digital asset that can be stored like a precious metal, used like an interest bearing account, or exchanged as a global currency.”
The even shorter answer is that CGB is a rare, secure, energy and cost efficient non-violent means to combat the corruption and inefficiencies that are at the heart of most centralized systems today.
When was CGB started?
Cryptogenic Bullion (CGB) saw first light in June 2013 and is still going strong.
What makes CGB cool, besides being a digital commodity and currency?
The following are among the things that makes CGB seriously super cool to say the least…
• Strong Social Support: CGB enjoys the support of a strong community. E.g. CGB recently came 8th out of a total of 216 cryptocurrencies in terms of social strength.
• Active Development: CGB is actively developed by a dev team that is dedicated to CGB’s success. E.g. when news recently surfaced about the Heartbleed Internet bug, they were among the first to release an updated and even more secure CGB wallet.
• Frequent Updates: CGB community members receive frequent updates from the dev team. E.g. “CGB Core Team Weekly Update”.
• Frequent Contests and Giveaways: The CGB community and dev team frequently host contests and giveaways. E.g. there was recently a CGB Celebration give-away at the Vault of Satoshi to celebrate the launch of CGB's first direct CAD & USD markets, which is a huge step forward for CGB.
• Great Website: CGB has a professional and very informative website that features charts & data, an investor brief, frequently asked questions and much more. To check it out for yourself, be sure to pay a visit to: www.cgb.holdings
• Physical CGB Available for Sale: Physical CGB in the form of 1 Troy ounce of .999 fine silver – Commemorative “Cryptogenic Bullion” Proofs are available for sale at www.finitebydesign.net This provides an opportunity to back the digital CGB one holds with physical silver in one’s own capacity. CGB is not formally backed by gold or silver, because there is no central issuing authority and “backing”, especially by a third party, is nothing short of a promise that can be broken (as history has proven beyond a reasonable doubt). When you hold the private key to unlock your portion of CGB in the block chain, you’re holding wealth in your hand. Needless to say, the strength of CGB lies in its digital properties.
You mentioned that “the price is right and the specs are spot on”, could you be more specific?
Yes.
With “the price is right” I mean that Cryptogenic Bullion (CGB) is currently trading within a price range that makes it super cheap, especially considering its rarity and the fact that the baseline reward of 0.01 CGB per block will be reached around June this year (2014). The moment that happens, the maximum annual inflation rate will be penned at 2% (0.5% PoW & 1.5% PoS inflation), bringing an end to the volatile inflationary stage earmarked by plenty of price swings. This will make CGB the ideal cryptographic virtual commodity to hold, especially if you choose to get in at current price levels of around $0.40 per CGB.
In terms of “the specs are spot” on, I mean…
• Proof of Work/Proof of Stake Hybrid – Great in terms of network security and also helps to make CGB energy and cost efficient.
• Algorithm: Scrypt – This is theoretically a much safer algorithm to use than SHA-2, a family of cryptographic hash functions that includes SHA-256, which is used by Bitcoin.
• Linear difficulty retarget (every 2 blocks).
• 5 Confirmations – This combined with a 60 second block time makes relatively fast transaction times possible, while no compromise is made in terms of security.
• 60 Second block time.
• 1.5% Annual interest earned.
• Subsidy halving after every 50k blocks until perpetual reward of 0.01
• Target ~1,000,000 CGB – This combined with 2% annual inflation makes CGB rare, especially when compared to the multi-millions, billions or even trillions of coins flooding the marketplace.
• 0.5% PoW & 1.5% PoS inflation – This is great in terms of both network security and to reward those who support the network.
• Based on Peercoin & Novacoin.
For more info and reasons why Cryptogenic Bullion (CGB) is cooler than liquid gold (and gold for that matter), be sure to pay a visit to: www.cgb.holdings

Contest wrapping up today guys! Another entry submitted on Reddit by flagin

Quote
Cryptogenic Bullion is one of the few special altcoins in the cryptouniverse. Notable ones include litecoin, ripples, nxt, dogecoin and the mother of them all is Bitcoin. A few with special attributes include namecoin, anoncoin, primecoin , mastercoin and Cryptogenic bullion, CGB. CGB is conceived as a buy-and-hold cryptocurrency, CGB will actually pay you interest (1.5 percent a year) if you keep the coins in your CBG wallet. As institutional investors move into alternate currencies, they could bid up the price for CBG. The quantity of coins is low but not too low, a total of about 1million coins. Crytocurrency in general and CGB in particular is a response to the recklessness of centralized economic authourities in displacing the wealth of the salient majority and transferring them to oligarch and plutocrats. CGB seeks to correct this anomaly and redistribute wealth evenly again . It does this by its decentralized systems and protocol with the openness for inclusive participation. In the nearest future , Crytocurrencies will play a huge and important role in major segments of the economy and barring Bitcoin, Litecoin, Ripples and dogecoin , and new system like NXT, etherium , mastercoin and colored coins, the next greatest coins include CGB. As more people adopt these coins, merchants, processors and consumers inclusive, with light touch regulations to provide guidance and direction, increasing number and value of transactions thereby improving the marginal stability and attractiveness of the ecosystem. Stability brings measurement and forecast planning which attracts investors and traders. The infusion of wall streets fund into CGB will make price of bitcoin in november of 2013 seem a meagre investment choice. I say this because of the unique features of CGB such as it limited quantity with an inflationary bent , annual interest earned (few coins have that), POS/POW hybrid, faster confirmations dedicated and active development team and community. With the recent temporary downturn in the cryptomarket now , i suggest it is the best time to buy.
