Hey Bitcointalk forumgoers, We've opened a new site www.bitcoinstash.net. Our site allows users to attempt to crack passwords generated by ciphers to gain access to Bitcoin vaults that other users have created. Each attempt to guess the vault password costs 0.1 mBTC, the passwords are generated from an English dictionary and encrypted with a cipher provided by the user, you can either write your own or use the provided template ciphers. A failed attempt will increase the amount of Bitcoin in the vault by a small amount. If you choose to create a vault it will remain crackable for a given amount of time, if left uncracked you will receive the full balance of the vault at the end of the period. As the site is still a work in progress we ask that you please provide feedback on the service at admin@bitcoinstash.net.

Get Cracking!
The Bitcoin network protocol was designed to be extremely flexible. It can be used to create timed transactions, escrow transactions, multi-signature transactions, etc. The current features of the client only hint at what will be possible in the future.

Bugs fixed:

- UI-design defect (datepicker)
- Added test for hard coded values and random in cipher functions (they are not allowed)

All feedback is appreciated.

More details of the Bitcoin Stash have been updated to the site:

This is the first site that offers interest for your Bitcoin deposits. You will earn interest from unsuccessfull burglary attempts to your Bitcoin Vault. You can design your own vault security, and so reduce the possibility of burglary.

On this site, stealing bitcoins is now made legal: here you can try to rob other users' bitcoins by guessing their vault password phrases by using the ciphered versions of them. Knowledge of cipher algorithms will help you, but you may also benefit from luck as after each guess, the system will tell you how many correct charecters you entered.

Vault creation:
The system generates a three-word password phrase by using English words, after which the vault owner creates a cipher algorithm which scrambles the words (using javascript); the number of the characters per word will not change. The system does not allow the use of hardcoded texts and random functions.

Robbing vaults:
Any logged user with a bitcoin balance can try to rob the vaults by guessing the original password phrase the system has generated. If the guess is correct the full balance of the vault will be transfered to the robber's account and can be withdrawn immediately.

Expiration of the vault:
When the vault remains intact, the vault owner can withdraw the full bitcoin balance of the vault (possible interests will be included) after the expiration of the vault (batch job is run every hour).

Prices
- Robbing attempt cost is 0.1 mBTC
- Fee of 10% is taken from robbing attempts, rest 90% goes inside the vault as interst

Sorry there is no tutorials, there is one video in the vault creation page, but it's up to users how to use it. My tip is not to put too much bitcoins in one vault, because it is possible to brute force open. Remember that you can also rob your own vault if you get scary and you want your coins back fast.

Today is a special day because I will give 2mBTC to all new registered users at 12:00 CET. So visit http://www.bitcoinstash.net and register.

It seems that there are some nice vaults waiting to be robbed @ BitcoinStash.net, remember that brute forcing vault passwords is possible.

Here is a small robbing calculation as an example:

Vault contains: 10mBTC
It takes (about?) 200 tries to brute force it open: 200 x 0,1 mBTC = 20 mBTC
After this vault contains bitcoins: 10 + (200 * 0,1 * 0,9) = 28 mBTC
Total win: 10+20-(200*0,1*0,1) = 28 mBTC (profit!)

Easy? Mayby, but remember that it's possible that someone hits the correct password before you.... There are currently only 60 registered members so at this time it's not common.

Happy hunting Wink

Stay tuned, development of this service continues and more nice features are coming soon.

I am thinking to implement "super vault" that has a special feature: password changes after 30 robbing attempts. After this update it would be more safe to store even bigger bitcoin amounts in vaults. Now there has been usually 1 - 20mBTC in one vault.

I have also added updates page where you can find recent updates made to BitcoinStash.
