So I had a 200 dollar Amazon gift card I sold to someone online last week. I wanted bitcoins for it, he asked me if I would accept payment through Venmo. I had never heard of it, so I did a quick search on Google. It seemed pretty legit, so I signed up, and he sent me money ($180) that way. He sent the payment, I sent him the code, and I "cashed out" my balance to my bank account. That was last Thursday. Monday I recieved a email that the cashout had been "canceled and returned to my account." But the money isnt there.

Multiple emails to customer suppot (there is no phone number) and I have gotten no response. I did some research,  and it appears that the guy did a charge back (I didn't know you could charge back via Venmo) and took his money back, and got my Amazon card for free.

To add to this, Venmo somehow thought it was appropriate to charge my bank account 35 dollars twice for NSF... even though the only transaction I've made with my account was the transfer of the 180 dollars that I never received. So now Im out a 200 dollar Amazon gift card AND 70 dollars (which put my account in the red)

Such  a headache, I will NEVER use this service again. Just a heads up guys, don't use Venmo!

Every time a block is mined, a certain amount of BTC (called the subsidy) is created out of thin air and given to the miner. The subsidy halves every four years and will reach 0 in about 130 years.
