This is very good news for me :-)
Thanks for bringing this to my attention.AMD does care about us miners.Lets hope the mining software can be optimised well for the HD7970 (due to a different type of architecture from the HD6xxx series GPUs.I just hope that my HD6950 can still pull its weight as its heavily OC'd and shader unlocked)

In that context they may think about frequent pattern mining algorithm and data mining in general. But I'm sure they are thinking about bitcoin.

Nice. Too bad AMD hasn't contacted me about me supporting their GCN platform yet on DiabloMiner. Seriously, AMD, send me a 7970, I will love you all night long. Wink wink.

I'm seriously thinking about getting one of these! replace my 2x5770 I've saved $400 cash, and have (at current prices) about $200 in btc, so once it's released I'll check out my options for buying

I need to look into those VISA cards that you buy at like Walmart, where you put on cash (non reloadable I think?) but do you know if you can use those cards over the Internet as a legit Credit Card?

Send them a message in some way: it may be twitter, e-mailing their PR department or something like that. Just tell them that if they want to advertise mining as a selling point, they should have software that is made for that architecture, and since you've already made software for the previous architecture (show them the links and everything), you're just the guy to do it. It's not that they won't find a spare 7970 lying around.

Do you guys have a recommendation on a manufacturer? like XFX, Sapphire, etc? It'll be my first high-end video card purchase, so I don't want to buy crappy and suffer later.

i would go with XFX if they are non-reference designs. If reference, basically no difference, except the warranty.

Stick with ASUS, Gigabyte, MSI, and Sapphire. The rest is second or third tier shit, especially XFX and Powercolor and Club3D.
