The genesis block was created January 3rd, 2009, so the Bitcoin block chain is now 3 years old! Happy birthday! Grin

I know this because Tyler knows this.

I have a feeling that flight Bitcoin is still taxiing down the runway. Maybe year four will fire up the engines.

Three calendar years.

One of the highlights last year on this date was that Bitcoin had reached "thousands of nodes".  That same metric ended up at tens of thousands of nodes during the summer (using the same metric: http://stats.bitcoin.it/rrd/nodes_total-year.png ).  Other node count methods calculate differently: http://bitcoinstats.org/count.html for example.

Last's year's birthday post:

Mt. Gox is a commercial exchange, why would you expect it to open the moment a program appears on some crypto mailing list? Also, capital letters and punctuation exist for a reason. Undecided

Anyways: Happy Birthday, Block Chain! Grin Cool
