The long-term potential of Bitcoin has not changed. When will people start looking past the short-term issues?
When they've raised enough funds to pay their taxes (and fees if they've delayed until now.) I predict that if the price continues to decline and hold at relatively low levels, and lot of people are going to lose more of their hoard than they had hoped. However, a continued decline into the two digit levels could be another 'late 2011 style' opportunity to do OK even if one is late to the party.
We're also looking at several fairly large blocks of liquidity which have yet to make it to market. One is owned by the U.S. govt complements of silk road and probably other sources. The other is whatever came of Mt. Gox's stash. A third, now that I think of it, is Satoshi's stash. And the Winklevoss stash for that matter. Should any one of these come to market we could easily see significant further price erosion. If we see several at once we could have a genuine collapse. There may well be enough interest to absorb a fair chunk of it though. Hard to know.
