I know this is an old video published (18 Oct 2013) but I only just found it.

Jim Rickards wrote the book on Currency Wars, and claims to work for the Pentagon on currency war game simulations, so I take this as probably true.

He let slip at the end of this interview, "MtGox was, er.. er.., you know, attacked by the government"! Shocked
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fVOmVbHtz1k&t=21m30s

He could be called for Mt. Gox CEO Mark Karpele's defense, if it ever gets to court, or even by people suing for their money back!
Mark should make a copy of this video before it disappears, you just found a "get out of jail free card" on the Monopoly board. Tongue

Transactions must be included in a block to be properly completed. When you send a transaction, it is broadcast to miners. Miners can then optionally include it in their next blocks. Miners will be more inclined to include your transaction if it has a higher transaction fee.

Interesting, thanks for sharing.

Have you read his new book 'the death of money' by any chance?

Nah, I just watch his interviews for free.

This is a very interesting recent speech, he ignores private money and Bitcoin as a solution to todays monetary problems, then at the end a strange man asks him about the 80 year period with no central banks and only competing private money.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cZO1IHa-Ly0&t=1h10m20s

Jim keeps saying there is no money with an anchor anymore, well I disagree, Bitcoin is anchored to the cost of electricity and ASICs!

yeah new money seems to threaten anyone big who is not involved, they want the smaller people to be poor and they can have all the wealth.

I always thought it smelled a lot like MF Global and Jon Corzine who seems to have a get out jail free card too after disappearing $billion+ of customer funds used for commodity futures trades. Notice how this was the top of the commodity market like MtGox funds disappearing was the top of the Bitcoin market! If you have no buyers, because they have no access to their funds, the price can only go down. So I have to wonder if confiscating customer funds might be the ultimate way commodity/Bitcoin markets are kept under control. Wink

bitcoin doesn't really have anything of value backing it up.  you could kind of argue that against the dollar ... except, it does have something backing it.  a huge and lethal military ... and land

There are those that fight for money, and those that fight for freedom. That huge and lethal military, which do you think they are fighting for?

Trust is the only thing going for Bitcoin. In recent times it has also been hampered by the lack of the same. For Bitcoin to thrive and gain wider acceptance, trust must increase.

At risk of sounding nutty like whoever put up the astrological chart for bitcoin...I add this:

I'd read Mt. Gox as "Mount Gox" but watched a video yesterday where the vlogger was calling it "Em Tee Gox" by the letters.

In light of the above points about the gov involved, it could very well have been intended as "empty Gox"...

Just sayin  Wink

You say "anti government" like that's a bad thing...

Those huge and mighty military are still citizens with families who get paid in fiat...and the more that currency is devalued, the less it's worth. If the citizens who work in military have a CHOICE between rapidly devalued bs fiat (especially after they return home from fighting rip off other peoples' oil reserves and call it liberation wars to find their benefits have been slashed or evaporated, facing eviction and bankruptcy as a thank you from the government), and a secure alternative without gov control, I'm thinking they'll make the right decision at the end of the day and opt out of any kill orders on civilians doing what civilians are perfectly free to do: choose.

The only way government could have aided the Mt Gox scam was if they provided some kind of prosecution immunity to Mark Kerpeles. It is highly unlikely and I believe that we don't have the right to blame the government for this.

The Death of Money promises to be another good read following on from Currency Wars, which has basically been a step by step of how things have played out over the last few years.

I think the basic DoM premise is that when the next crisis comes, the US Fed has no way to provide liquidity as they are basically tapped out having put 4Tr plus onto their balance sheet. The only institution with a 'clean sheet' is the IMF, and they'll print SDR's (baskets of selected currencies + gold). This should increase the gold price substantially and destroy the US dollar.

A few months ago Rickards was quite anti-bitcoin and he went between ponzi, pyramid scheme and electricity shutoff arguments. Now though he seems to have softened his stance in saying that he is not anti-bitcoin however he thinks the governments of the world will not allow it to prosper.

As you may have guessed, he is pro gold.

I think he was scammed, doesnt mean its not his fault.   You really think he stole them himself ?

Rickards is a good guy, not too extreme to believe in absolutes and not too silly to believe in politics like the majority of economists

fort knox only covers dollar value if you rate each ounce at something silly like $10,000
What that would mean is people are massively less rich then they thought.  Even if they had owned alot of dollars which you say are legitimately backed, its adding up to alot less when buying goods then now.   What would be more sensible is to restructure or default on some of the dollars spent or planned to be spent by gov

I enjoy listening to the words of JR but they need to release the actual PDF officer's review text of the currency war he refers to.

I want to read all the details about the currency war, the executive digest mr. Rickards knows exists.  I want it doxxed and out now so we can all read the play by play of their theorywargame involving the world's money.  FUCKERS.

Check out my prescient ATS thread from 2008: "Windows XP: End the Cyberwar, Open the Code Now!" http://www.abovetopsecret.com/forum/thread411978/pg1

He probably means the 5 million DHS stole in May 2013.

From what it seems they have no plans to return that money to creditors. Stealing is okay if you're the government.
