The reason that ANC is not taking off is simple:
There are other far superior coins such as Darkcoin or even Fedoracoin.
ANC used i2p which basically makes your IP address private, but you can still trace transactions to a given address.

Darkcoin addresses this issue with darksend, which splits up the transaction across multiple nodes, so you cant directly link the sender.

2) the since the time of the initial post ANC have risen sharply, then came back down to where it is
and
3) both coins you speak of are cut from the same cloth, from which you can create Gox wardrobes

It's a coin that hasn't achieved anonymity despite being out for a long time. Now the plan is to free ride on ZeroCoin (which has its own problems related to the initial RSA key for the accumulator and the general lack of vetting of zero-knowledge proof systems).

Byte, Dark, and even Zero itself are more interesting.

ANC is a work in progress but I got a feeling soon enough it will be the dominate goto anon coin.
