Has there been any consideration for implementing 2FA for logins ?

Reading these posts about people with compromised accounts, and proving they own them to begin with seems problematic, and could be properly solved with a good Two-Factor-Authentication system.

Every time a block is mined, a certain amount of BTC (called the subsidy) is created out of thin air and given to the miner. The subsidy halves every four years and will reach 0 in about 130 years.

Bumping this again as I think this should be implemented before a year from now.

If someone wants to write a patch for it, I will seriously consider adding it. I believe that safely adding 2FA would be very time-consuming, so I'm not willing to do it myself or direct Slickage to do it.

There has. As theymos is unwilling to do so, a bounty for the a project was placed by Stunna here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=364307.0
However, no one has offered to complete the task - so I believe we won't be seeing it in this forum or the new one.

Don't you have money to get that done? Money was collected to improve the forums no?

Best thing for theymos to do would be to match stunnas bounty from donations, that's what they were for.

I've been working for the past few days on a patch for SMF 1.1.19 to add 2 factor authentication (whenever I have free time).  I plan to add it to both the login and password recovery (this will be configurable per user) and plan to support Google Authenticator and signed PGP messages.

I don't have a lot of free time to work on it but I hope to have something to send to Theymos soon so I can claim that bounty. Cheesy

I doubled the bounty to 2BTC. If you create something that Theymos agrees to use feel free to claim the bounty.
