I'm using Firefox because it's my browser of choice on my desktop.
It's way more customizable than chrome

I mostly use Chrome. Switched to it a couple years ago, since Firefox was lagging more and more behind. It just wasn't that snappy anymore. Also Chrome used far less ressources and didn't 'act up' as often as Firefox did. Safari is also nice, though!

I should have gotten into Bitcoin back in 1992...

Use Chromium instead of Chrome, it's the open source project that google funds and bases Chrome from, but doesn't connect you to the Google botnet harvesting everything you search/type into URL bar/view whatever.

Chromium has the best TLS stack, and a sandbox. It would be the most secure browser if it wasn't for Google's awful policy of not checking addons. If you're a criminal you can buy a popular browser addon, reprogram it to steal bitcoins and update through Google's servers and they check nothing. Mozilla does check at least. http://lifehacker.com/many-browser-extensions-have-become-adware-or-malware-1505117457

Essential addons should be Adblock EDGE, which doesn't accept bribes from Google to whitelist ads unlike Adblock Plus.
Disconnect is another good addon, preventing trackers. Connect to any newspaper site, look at the 200+ trackers pile up.
HTTPS Anywhere by EFF is another must have addon.
NoScript is a good idea, and selectively whitelisting sites. Why? Because of all sorts of interesting tab jacking and other shit you can do.

Example: http://www.azarask.in/blog/post/a-new-type-of-phishing-attack/
Go to that page. Then open a new tab. Go to new tab and wait. Surprise! jacked
Pretty good phishing idea, jack the tabs because most people have dozens of them open and won't even notice.

Firefox forever. It's great when you use it with right add-ons. It has been 5 years since I started using firefox and then stuck with it.

Chrome with user agent string changed to "Googlebot/2.1" to get into areas sometimes off limits.

Also use Firefox when a specific extension or add-on needed.

I use Tor. Although BCT charged me a few pennies to use it to open an account, I'm fine with it. Tor's helpful in keeping people's identities private within reason, but it also helps to stop the government from profiling people's traffic and that's why I use it.
