then the alerts will never go on since china laws makers dint ever ban bitcoin and will never ban bitcoin

Any news relating to Chinese bans and exchange deposit methods is sufficient for this purpose. We don't need to have the debate about whether there is an actual ban.

That particular alert can be achieved through COINPATROL. When China bans bitcoin and china dumps, the price goes down. When China unbans bitcoin and China buys again the price goes up.

What we really to need is the inside scoop to figure when China will ban bitcoin again, so we can know when to sell. And then of course, we need to know when China will unban bitcoin. I figure they just unban bitcoin after they have bought a significant amount at a low enough price.

A different approach would be to compose news alerts when the price dives or spikes, since this invariably happens before the news is released.

TERA, I was going to make this comment in your other 'China FUD' thread. But I guess here is fine. I realize you're making some specific points about China news, so this is a divergence.

I guess my main question long term is, how big of a difference does it make if China is involved or not?

China is roughly 20% of the total population. But total bitcoin adoption is currently staggering low anyway. Add to the fact that only roughly half of the total number of coins are even in circulation currently.

If China bans bitcoin, does it actually matter? (Hopefully no one will scream at me that it matters right now in the Spring of '14 for the actual trading value of BTC; that much is painfully clear as a "yes.") Yes, it would crash the current market if China was completely removed...but then again, trading volume on stamp and btc-e is proportionally astonishing low anyway. It seems reasonable to say that their dumped coins would be swallowed up in a reasonable amount of time, and in the total scope of continuing along the adoption curve, it's not really that substantial.

What are your thoughts?

Maybe it is possible to set up a general rule. My hypothesis is that unban will always be followed by ban. Also it seems that China can ban bitcoin multiple times in a row, but not the other way around (so they cannot unban it multiple times in a row). I picture an app with state of the art TA graphs and bananas instead of dinosaurs Smiley
