i lurked for a long time before just recently registering. truthfully, it was because it was a good gauge of market sentiment and, once you identify the people who actually know what they're talking about, a good source of reliable technical analysis/market prognostication. thanks guys!

this sentence has fifteen words, seventy-four letters, four commas, one hyphen, and a period.

I would suggest a good proportion of serious traders are active on these forums.  When people regularly post 'we're going to the moon!' or 'zomg, here comes the crash' comments, they're more than likely talking their book.  The largest traders probably have a good laugh when stories about The Manipulator surface.

I honestly think everyone talks their book to some extent. I also think your suggestion is plausible (or at least that they READ the forums), because I find it hard to believe that many traders who know about this forum would deem it useless.

Shame on everything; regret nothing.

I would guess that most of the serious traders may post on the forum a bit, but definitely read it.  My guess is that the BIG time players read it every once in a while, or hear about it from other people, but never post / don't have an account.  And the ones that post often are probably mainly in it for the show, and don't even have anything invested (MOST of the ones that post often).  Just my guesses though.
