btc high, btc low. its always a wild ride.
That's the nature of the currency. However it'll probably rise more than it sinks within the months coming.

I'm hoping for a quick rise now, been too low for too long, it's demoralizing. Cheesy

It's true, but we'd need some major explosions upwards after the crashes, like a major web service accepting bitcoins or something alike.

Today's High: $543.32

Reached $544.999 in BTC-E, before someone dumped 4,000+ coins in a few minutes. Still not much affected, as the prices are staying above $500.

Really, someone sold 4000 coins at 544? You'd think someone with that many coins would know that 544 is definitely not the highest price we'll see this month.

Right and they could have bought them all back just over $500 and made $160,000 not bad for a days work.

Ah yeah, of course. I didn't think that far. Damn, that's some serious profit.

Traders panicked on the news that MtGox filed for liquidation now, and are afraid what 200'000 recovered coins can do if 'liquidated' on some exchange?
I don't think that a liquidator would dump those coins on the exchange.

However, when they bought them back, shouldn't the price have recovered to previous 544? Shocked

No thats nonsense. If you want to buy 4000 coins now price would slip up to ~570 (bitstamp prices), so it would have been a loss.
Also however sold those 4000 coins (I personally dont think that it was one person) would not have sold all of them for 544, thats why the price fell. So the price for all 4000 was way lower than 544 on average.

Im not really here, its just your imagination.

I don't know what you are talking about. A month ago, BTC was trading at $800-900 levels. Now we are trading at almost half that level. Overall it is a steep decline in the exchange rate.

This bumpy ride is going to continue till a french man dumps his coin wealth to pay his lawyers. As far as I can remember, a thread was made with some kinda blockchain proof, that he is dumping on BTC-e, though I believe he'll split this dumping across the globe. (I wish some exchange suspends FIAT withdrawal when he dumps Cheesy) So, be ready to ride the rollercoaster Roll Eyes
