What exactly happened to drive the price rise from ~450 to ~500 in a day?  Huh

maybe..Bitcoin 2014 conference @ Amsterdam

Or maybe this? http://www.coindesk.com/cryptocurrency-oxford-online-dictionary/
Of course, I'm just joking lol.

I am really confused why some people gain confidence in bitcoin suddenly in a day...

maybe just because its getting mainstream almost everyday people is now accepting and learning how to use it which good i think Cheesy

not yet, if you notice the current trend, the price has already stable around the 500$ If the price were to have another 50-100$ jump it would require a massive buy out of 500-1000btc

there is a slightly higher chance for it to rise than to drop, but everything is possible, bitcoin is still quite speculative and still a relative not large movement (500bitcoins is not a huge quantity if you consider the amount of money poured in the stock market for example) can make the difference in bitcoin at the moment Sad

euh what? by same logic paying 500$ for one 500$ bill (another piece of paper) is not an idea most people will take which is not the case, it's the concensus of value you give it, bitcoin cost money to produce (hardware-electricity ect ect) it can buy you stuff, and thus it has a value

When exactly does it become a confirmed bull market? All I know is that we could not make a higher high on this last leg, so we are still technically having a successive lower high. So that alone tells me we cant say bull market yet!

I think it is technically incorrect to use the word confirmed bull market. Bull market can not be confirmed, whether it is share market or crypto currency market. A market can turn around any day... any time. Standing at the present, we can just look back to the past and say it was a bull market Wink

The price seems manipulated by a big whale, in these days it went up under the pressure of a single buy wall.
When the wall disappeared the value was steady/dropping a bit, like in this precise moment.

The price is still above 600 USD. Looks like it is the effect of the Dish network accepting Bitcoin. Non-bitcoiners have started to believe that Bitcoin is here to stay.

I hopes so.
BTW, most of the average Joe still prefer gold over bitcoin, according to a survey in March. (http://www.coindesk.com/poll-vast-majority-us-rather-invest-gold-bitcoin/).  Smiley

I wonder what is the reason for the last jump? was it the DISH TV network news? I think bitcoin is already more than $600 on most exchangers.
