http://www.forbes.com/sites/parmyolson/2014/04/14/facebook-prepares-a-money-transfer-service-but-still-needs-trust/

With more than 1 billion active mobile users, Facebook has the kind of scale to make any e-payments service jealous, but it could be years before the company gets that other important feature to running a viable financial business: trust.

Facebook has been working since at least late last year on a European-wide service that would allow end users to store and transfer money on Facebook, according to a source in the financial services industry with knowledge of Facebook’s plans.

Am not much of a user of facebook so am not that familar with its possibilities

However would it not just be a case of someone making a facebook app that utilizes a blockchain.info wallet.

This should be pretty easy to do I think ?

Facebook will (probably) be a huge force in payments and they do not need crypto.
FB is highly centralized and doesn't respect privacy, why would they need an alt coin?

facebook not creating their own crypto blockchain. they are simply expanding the utilities of their facebook credit database to allow withdrawals of 'credits' value and not just purchasing credits

Yeah, you're right. Also Facebook buys everything Whatsapp, Oculus Rift etc.
