Black people are black because they evolved under a hotter sun (closer to the equator) in Africa than we did.  Notice how the palms of their hands and the soles of their feet, which would get less direct sunlight, are less black?  Darker skin is less likely to burn and kill you.

If you want to insult a black person, state a fact.  "Hey, your ancestors didn't know when to come in from the sun!"

Any other insult is nonsense, for they are different from white people in no other way.

Upon reading the latest posts on this thread, it's seems to me that it may be quite possible that I shouldn't have used it even in all caps.

I swear to you all that I'm not racist, but damn it, is it possible that something has ingrained in us white folk's psyche to use such a term at certain times, then try to justify its usage. I'm damn near in apology mode on this, all.

Is there another term I could use for such a person (no matter their race/creed/etc.) to express how I feel if such an event ever occurs in the future? For sure, when used, expressing a person's origin shouldn't be expressed - simply man or person would suffice.

I honestly hate the word hate, and despise the n- word, but truly felt the n- word in all caps considering the content was fine, but seriously now having second thoughts.

I have never heard that word come from her. She is a deputy sheriff in florida and i think her being called that word growing up has made a her a strong person with solid character.

PG admitted he is used it and it is derogatory. He claims anyone can be a N****R but for real how many people use that word to describe poor character? And how do we Explain his Comment "Half Breed" baby?   Really?? Half breed. are we describing an animal a dog? No a human being. then he goes on describing a jewish guy in another thread saying the JEW didn't pay.  The guy clearly has issues with blacks and jewish people.

She's kind of a rare black person then. I don't think I've listened to a song by a black artist in the last 20 years that didn't have the word nigger in it.

You do realize Bruno is from an older generation, right. Most people use language based on education and life experience. He probably grew up using that word because everyone around him used it but it may have a different meaning for him than it did for the adults using it around him. I know it sounds odd but I had an old white friend years ago that used nigger to mean essentially slave worker. He would use it to describe Mexican field workers by calling them field niggers. Racism Is for children IMO which is odd because children tend to not be racists unless they were brought up to be that way. People that use the tactics of reverse racism today to hinder the speech of others are also childish IMO.  Your not going to like everything your hear or read and that does not mean you're going to be able to take away someone rights.  You don't like what someone is saying then point out why they are wrong and ignore them.

That reminds me of Rosa Parks refusing to give up her seat when a bus driver asked her to due to racial segregation.

His comments about the "Half breed" baby is a clear example of hate.  Breeds describe animals not humans.

I've referred to myself as a "half-breed" and often tell people that I was "born and bred" here in San Antonio; am I racist? (FYI, humans are animals.)

Racism isn't always about hate, as Mike Christ tried to intimate. My mother would never wish ill on anyone but she's a full blown racist, IMO. It sometimes seems like every conversation I have with her includes a comment that starts with, "Oh, you know how white/black/Mexican people are..." She's not white and doesn't consider other races inferior to hers, she will just instinctively put you in a preconceived box based solely on your skin color.

I've met Phinnaeus in person and worked with him on several projects. I believe he is understandably upset by the actions of his niece's boyfriend and wanted to convey the depth of his displeasure by using the most derogatory term he could find. He also tried to make it clear that he was only referring to this one individual, basing his scorn and derision on the personality, not the physical characteristics of the man.

Unfortunately for Phinnaeus, and the rest of us, a few loaded terms are still enough to draw attention away from the issue at hand and give fodder to those trying to convince us that some words and concepts are "bad" no matter how you use them.
