Charges for early scrypt miners?

Hi,

I was just curious. I have only been around for a little more than a year.

Did early scypt or sha GPU mining software have a fee or charge associated?

It just seems to rub against the open source, free as in beer, grain.

Especially surprising with XPM as you would think with the "value" they are providing the scientific community that perpetuating that brand would necessitate the mining software / pools being free and open.

Does not seem to be the case, its disappointing

Dude.. can you buy your family dinner with "Value"?  How about pay your electric bill?  Its all about the cash...

I see nothing wrong with someone spending time to create an application that does what nothing else can and building in a small fee. If you don't like it don't use it.

The days of handouts and spoon feeding the dumb people are long gone.

Dude... this (the openness and free software aspect) is precisely what has made this the community success story that it has become.

The challenge for the creative individual is to give away their most prized intellectual possessions. Funny thing is you get it back 10-fold.
I also hope they are not using any gpl code and not releasing it back. That is a HUGE no no.

I may be relatively new to crypto but I am an old school unix geek and agreed I wont use it and I would bet that it hinders the growth of the coins in question.

yes I am curious too...

One of the main argument of crypto is getting rid of corrupt banking system practising high banking fee, then we end up with coins for which we pay 10% fee (saw another recent one at 16%).
The funny thing is that many people are complaining against huge 2% premine.
I think it put these coins at risk, the day they decide to cash out, these coins will just go down like any other premined coin
