Why are there no SHA-256 coins more profitable for mining than Bitcoin

Scrypt Alts are more profitable than Litecoin so why aren't SHA-256 alts more profitable to mine than Bitcoin?  All the ones I see are actually worse.

A couple reasons I would think. For one Scrypt coins are held up by the cost of mining since miners wont sell at a loss (or shouldn't). GPU mining is more expensive so the cost of Scrypt coins is higher. At least that would be my guess.
