See Putin's reply:

http://rt.com/news/snowden-putin-spy-online-140/

Russian intelligence agencies use special media to tap and spy only after a court decision, says Vladimir Putin, answering the question by former NSA agent Edward Snowden on whether the Russian government spies online. The Russian president said that he like Snowden used to work as a former intelligence officer and said that there is no mass scale or uncontrollable surveillance in Russia as there is in America. “Russia uses surveillance techniques for spying on individuals only with the sanction of a court order. This is our law, and therefore there is no mass surveillance in our country”, Putin said.

Putin's rubbing Obama's nose in it. Publicly he took Crimea, his quiet revolution is slowly taking over the Ukraine, and he now says to the world that he would not do the bad things that Obama has done to his people. Of course, Putin is a snake, but he's a very clever snake.

Perhaps Obama need a few PR managers.

Obama is already hated all over the world. Putin is taking advantage of that. And this PR campaign is not aimed at the American public. It is aimed at the Germans and the French, to think them twice before supporting the NATO's actions in Eastern Ukraine. Yes... he is extremely clever.... after all he is ex-KGB, unlike the ex-cannabis addict Obama.

Obama better distance himself to this issue. The Americans has no part on this problem. Any Obama's further involvement could only damage more to the already damage American image.

Bah!  Obama owns this issue we all know it.

The difference is that now he's shown to be as much of a liar as Putin has always been.

Some of the European heads of state, such as Angela Merkel were very unhappy with the way their telephone conversations were tapped by the NSA. And Putin knows this very well. He waited for the right time, and right now this is the best occasion (Ukraine crisis).

Who thinks that Snowden was put up to asking the question?   At first it seems like he might have been doing his Snowden thing, but it could have just as easily played into Putin's hands and helped insure Snowden's safety if Snowden had been put up to it.

It could be anything, but to be frank, Putin does nothing but benefit from playing the good guy in this situation, so it's entirely plausible one way or the other that he's actually being honest about it, we know he uses spying on political opponents but it probably wouldn't be beneficial for him to just spy on ordinary citizens non-stop when they haven't even done anything wrong because of the amount of distrust he'd gain. The problem is we of course don't know what he's really like because he's a politician.

The whole spying thing is a bit like with parenting and America is that parent who keeps on obnoxiously trying to check through all their childrens emails', stalk them through face book and would put a tracking device on them if they could get away with it, then they wonder why their children hate them so much and start getting into arguments with people about it because they don't realise simply respecting their children and talking to them like human beings would be enough to keep them on the right track.

Which is ironic because American parents seem to act like that a lot in general so maybe that's why they aren't so outraged about it Tongue

Who cares whether he was put up to asking the question or not? Is there anything wrong in the question or the reply? It might be a PR campaign to boost Russia's image during the Ukraine crisis. But that doesn't hide the wrongdoings of the NSA and the Obama regime.

Well, we've seen a number of splashy news press releases about the amount of electrical power some of the NSA facilities use.  From this is was possible (ten years ago is when I did it) to calculate that they were and are recording all conversations.

There have been no similar announcements about huge Soviet data farms.  If they do not exist, then the Soviets are not doing this style of recording.

Russia do spy on some of the people. Like those who are linked with Islamic extremists organizations and people who receive donations from foreign NGOs. The US spies on all its people. That is the difference between the two.
