Cryptsy Double Spends are Back. Trade with Extreme Caution.

Not only will you get banned for suggesting they fix it now we are financially liable for the error in coding.

Be warned.

How it works against you to fuck you.

You place a buy order, the buy order does not appear or seem to register for a period of time so you submit the  buy again on the belief that since no indication is made on your account that the original order did not get accepted.

But both orders do you through leaving you either with a negative BTC or altcoin balance.

Cryptsy then requires you to pay back the difference at the current market price.

So if you wanted to sell 1 btc of say wdc, first order doesnt take so you resubmit. Then both orders at a later date are executed. You account is frozen until you replace the 1 BTC worth or wdc.

Problem is if the wdc price rose say 800% by the time your realized, you would then have to buy or replenish the wdc missing from your account to un freeze your account.

So quite easily your 1 btc sell could turn into an 8btc loss.

Be wary.

Digging- Just had to buy 100 BC at dbl price to restore from neg value, still don`t see how I have to foot the bill , but can`t stay out of the game so meh

Are you talking about some cryptocurrencies present on Cryptsy which were somehow destroyed by a 51% attack, so attackers credited their account twice with the same coins, then exchanged the coins for BTC and so on?

this was annoying the last time it happened. I was forced to buy COL in order to withdrawal BTC. Cryptsy will force you to bring you account up to date if you carry a negative balance.  I would avoid trading until things are back to normal.

What the?  What happened?
So here is what we were doing last night and what happened:
All accounts use a ledger in our system.  User balances and audits depend on this ledger.   When the system was initially designed, we had one ledger for all currencies.
As we have grown, the one ledger was getting quite large and we started to see some performance issues.   About a month ago it was determined we would move to a per currency based ledger system, meaning for every currency in our system it would have it’s own ledger.
Yesterday we began to move to the new ledger system.  This move required modifications to our audit program to look at both the main ledger and currency ledger while we moved the data.   We were basically attempting to perform this change without having to take the site offline.
The modifications to the audit program did not work as expected as many of the data migrations took longer than anticipated.  This resulted in inaccurate user balances.
We initially turned off withdrawals and continued to attempt the live migration, however the balance issues where affecting trading.   It was then determined that we needed to shutdown trading while we finished the migration.
After the migration was completed, we ran a full system audit for every user to ensure accuracy of balances.   
We are now on the new ledger system and everything is working normally.

That issue is known for a few months. But all Cryptsy users should be aware of this. When you place an order you always have to make sure you see the colored confirmation box appear. Sometimes this is not instantaneous and you will not notice that your order went through. Sometimes it helps if you refresh the site.

i clicked.. it threw an error message up, then mods on chat and some regulars insulted me called me a liar and then promptly banned me.
(rather than the guy mouthing me off saying i was making it up Trolling)
and like you quoted from Cryptsy's chat doing that.. it's retarded business behavior to say the least.
another guy had the same error as me at the same time plus i seen it later on too.. they knew it was a common error but banned me anyway.. assholes .

AND

if you KNOW there is an issue then do something about.. fix it + warn people with a message on the site and on chat.
which is the opposite actually of banning complainers..
there is no excuse for letting people walk into a trap.
Cryptsy has habitually been aware of problems since they started and let people get screwed over rather than stopping trading etc.
and they will almost never warn people either by saying for example wait to send coins over there or whatever.. no excuse for shit like that at all.

i'm done.. sick of the clowny rinky dink operation bullshit.. they got too popular and cocky and forgot who's money their fucking around with.
i don't appreciate attitude from employees either as i have gotten from them plenty of times in the past.
and the only reason i have is because their staff MAKES shit coins and i bitch about them here and they see it then run their mouth at me later.
one time i got banned in less than a 20 seconds of showing up after not being there for 24hrs roughly,
and the reason why i was told was because "they weren't in the mood for me"
if that isn't amateur hour what is ?

Guys drop that gay shit hole seriously.. fuck 'em

i won't even bother mentioning 100+ other damning stories and incidents i have experience by myself
let alone the guys who have coins missing for months with almost no response back. See forum messages here about that

what i find is shocking is how they attempt to quiet their biggest supporters! They still have not fixed problems from last year. I have missing coins and have made endless tickets to their support bots...finally mullick gives me BigVerns' email and tells me the CEO will fix it for you...here it is days later and no reply. WTF CRYPTSY DO YOU NEED A PUSH???
