This thread took a nice twist. I'm into smooth Irish Whiskey. What does that say about my strategy?

Based on your choice of Whisky I'd guess that one of those Bitcoin addresses with a 4-digit amount on it that have been left untouched since 2011 is yours I wish it was that many digits! But I have I think couple of addresses untouched from '11. I also have some whisky, more of a collector item really, which was bottled the year I was born. Not Lagavulin, unfortunately they only started bottling later

That depends on the Whisky - Cooley is not far from Islay. If thats your style: you may as well fit into the Islay Bitcoin Investor Group

Correct the Whisk(e)y type is a giveaway for the trader type
so what that makes me if I mainly drink this one, a hodler? PS nice stuff, I recommend getting a bottle asap if you like islay (and I wouldn't drink that last one if I were you ). Ok the 1990 Lagavullin is 23 years old but the years don't count when bottled. It has been double matured so it is 16 years of age (correct me if i'm wrong). This is a very good whisky that competes with more expensive whisky. What kind of a trader: This would make you a Hodler that has been in the game for a while and doesn't have much to lose. You probably have "enough" bitcoins for hodling and use excesses to trade a little bit (fun money). Since you do not have much to lose you do short term trading and try to be a "strong trader" which you are not quite at the moment. P.S. Lagavullin 16 year is nice but I've always wanted a distillers edition. Sherry cask whisky is nice

I have very weak hands, right around $5k-$10k and $50k-$200k+. I have others in my family who are just as weak, be careful of our bearishness, our opinions might represent the majority.
They don't drink, but I do when I reach my weak zones.
I might even hold some of my coins so I can be weak 30+ years from now.
* whispers * Be careful, bears are everywhere...

FAP Turbo 2.0, the FOREX trading robot which also trades bitcoin! I had to link it because I love the name. Seriously, that is the real name.

Let's take that sixth whiskey *burp*
Everyone takes one too much, once in a while. Your selection of whisky depends on your choices and your character, however: ....snip... Correct the Whisk(e)y type is a giveaway for the trader type "HODlers" Use a good basic single malt whisk(e)y >10years of age or a good Tennessee/bourbon whiskey since they have to consume quite a lot to keep them from the urge of selling. You're not getting it. Hodlers never feel an urge of selling, so they don't need whisky at all to suppress it. People must understand that hodling is not a strategy. It's a religion. ya.ya.yo!

I propose an alternative to the 'strong hands' narrative:
Remember who panics first panics best!
This has never been true in bitcoin to this point. The panic sellers get left behind and hang around the board as bitter losers.

Sherry cask whisky is nice Correct that's 16 years old as well, the sherry casks add a little sweet smoothness to the excellent lagavullin taste. The color is darker too, not sure of naturally or caramel, but that bottle just looks sexy. You can get it at almost the same price as original 16yr, it is not an expensive whisky (sub-100).

What is a "strong hand" and a "weak hand"?? Does this imply bitcoin is some kind of investment scheme? I thought it was a currency.
But I think you're right: Everybody that still uses US$ for value comparison didn't understand Bitcoin yet. that would be the expression of the ultimate strong hand. who cares about $, all the bitcoins belong to me My boy! Who cares about $ if you have all the btc you need to soon retire. Fuck fiat On a serious note: one btc is enough to retire in the end. .. Strong!

Whiskey is in the definition of hodling (hence the misspelling of holding). To HODL: The act of holding on to a financial trade, often a "crypto-currency", while it plummets it value. Hodling a trade indicates that an unusually high amount of personal resolve is required from the trader, due to the possibility of massive financial losses. Such resolve may be found in the form of whiskey or other strong alcohols, hence the mis-spelling. "My bitcoins lost 45% of their value in this crash, but I'm hodling" "Everybody just needs to hodl, we can get through this" #hodl

Johnny Walker Black Label is a whisky with a light natural color, being blended from Caol Ila, Talisker and grain whisky. The dark color comes from liberal quantities of E150a (caramel). Caramel dye looks quite different from the reddish brown tint of PX or Port casks or the yellow of the oak. So Black Label is a pretty good sample of a color a whisky should not have. Some very, very old whiskies have similar colors to Black Label, but they are exceptions - no bottler in their right mind would add E150 to a Brora 50yo. Never judge a whisky by it's (lack of) color.
