I'm new to BitCoin, but not to tech stuff, so I installed the miner and activate it but it never mined anything ... So where's a tutorial about the first set up. What bitcoin miners are available?
Sorry for the newbie questions ...

Which miner are you using and are you connecting to a pool or mining solo?

Miners are covered here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=42.0

If you wish to join a mining pool (which I think you do, even if you don't realize it just yet), choose one from the top 10 pools described in this section: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=41.0

I suggest you get acquainted with BitMinter (https://bitminter.com/). It's a very decent pool and they offer a user-friendly miner you can run directly from the browser.
Following this advice will allow you to actually do some mining while you get up to speed on what's what in Bitcoin universe.

I've deducted that you probably aren't too technical from the absence of any information in your original post.
What hardware are you using? Which operating system? Which miner have you tried to run? There are plenty you know.

The Bitcoin Wiki https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Main_Page might be easier to read than the forums.

Make sure that you understand the difference between the Bitcoin client (a wallet for your bitcoins) and the actual miners (programs attempting to generate new bitcoins).
