Ozziecoin - Australia's first widely distributed digital coin Equitable distribution | Simplified online accounts | Send ozziecoins via email | Introducing the Blockchain to Australians Website: ozziecoin.comLaunch date: ANZAC Day 12:00 EST 25 April 2014 - postponed to 8 PM EST 27 April 2014. Claims are now open: ClaimsIntroduction:Bitcoin and altcoins are becoming more complex due to technological improvements. We've taken the deliberate step of making ozziecoins more accessible to the general public by introducing key features such as: equitable widespread distribution, simple online ozziecoin accounts, a mobile web app and sending ozziecoins via email. We believe it's critical that more Australians use Blockchain technology and realise the technology's potential to decentralise almost anything. We've built an ozziecoin distribution zone to distribute ozziecoins widely and in an equitable manner. Registration on the site will be available at launch. For those interested in the technical side of the protocol, the usual tools and functions remain available. Ozziecoin has been developed with important important safeguards in place including ASIC resistance, a cool hashing algorithm, time warp limitation, fast block difficulty retargeting and automatic checkpointing. Ozziecoins are for micro transactions and research. We leave the investment side to the more well established currencies such as bitcoin and Australian dollars. Our primary objective is to get Blockchain technology out into the wider Australian community. We would prefer if people did not speculate on ozziecoins. We had a lot of help from Hiro, the developer of Hirocoin. He is a genius with the protocol. We also would like to mention the developers of darkcoin and auroracoin because we've learnt many lessons from their experiences (though we have not had direct contact with them). And of course we need to thank Satoshi Nakamoto for inventing the Blockchain, a truly remarkable piece of technology. Key features:- Very widespread distribution to Australian residents: 500 ozziecoins per person
- Valid Australian mobile required per claim
- Nominal registration fee per claim
- Intended for micro-transactions and research
- Objective: to introduce blockchain technology to the wider Australian public
- Simplified ozziecoin online accounts via the ozziecoin panel
- Send ozziecoins to email addresses!
- Send ozziecoins to facebook friends!
- Basic Android web app for mobile phones
- iPhones, we'll provide a link soon.
- Structured distribution to manage volatility
Specifications: - Coin symbol: OZC
- X11 hashing algorithm (lower power consumption and cooler GPUs)
- Block time: 2.5 minutes
- 625 ozziecoins per block
- 23 Billion ozziecoins over 88 years
- 11.5 Billion ozziecoins pre-allocated for distribution to Australian residents
- Notional maximum of 1,000 ozziecoins per Australian resident
- Addresses of pre-allocated ozziecoins to be published
- Total claims to be independently verified
- Min transaction fee: 0.0001 OZC
- Difficulty retarget: DGW2
- Automatic checkpointing
- Client port: 39042, RPC port: 39052

seems to be a trend to have 2 national coins competing ...
|
If bitcoinmining riggs could buy miningriggs with bitcoin by themselves wouldnt that be asexual reproduction ? So wouldnt that make BTC a lifeform ?

We welcome competition. The more Ozzies using blockchain technology the better it is.

It's like third aussie coin out there.
I only know about one other, one that tried IPO and had no plans to distribute?? Anyway I don't mind trying to claim a national coin seeing as I'm an Aussie, don't know any Ozzies though

so this one is for another Australia ? of for the same (AUS coin) Yes from Australia but very different. We are not a litecoin clone. We've modified the protocol (with help). Our goal is to distribute this coin to all Australian residents so normal Aussies get to experiment with Blockchain technology. Our objective is to introduce crypto to the wider community. If more people understand digital currency, this will benefit society and help to accelerate the development of decentralising technologies. We are helping everyday people become comfortable with cryptos by giving them easy online access, easy transfer mechanisms, send to email function and a mobile web app. We are not competing with other Australian altcoins - we are going for the blue ocean: The vast numbers of people who are not aware of cryptos and Blockchain technology.

Do you have a detailed plan for distribution? will all pre-mine coins be held in an address which can be viewed on the blockchain? have you discussed you plan with the ATO or government? Also how about a little more details on yourself? are you Australian? where do you reside? are you happy to meet others from the Australians from the cyrpto community face to face to confirm legitimacy? If this is indeed legit you need to be as transparent as possible.

If this is indeed legit you need to be as transparent as possible. Great questions. Distribution plans are available on website: ozziecoin.com Pre-allocated coin address will be published. There has been no discussion with Govt or the ATO. Why? This is not regulated by them. We are giving out digital currency to all Australian residents with a valid mobile and email address. I am Australian and live in Australia. My specific residence is not critical at this juncture. Yes, I have been in contact with people in the cyrpto community and am a member. This is legitimate. We have spent many hours and our own money to get this going. At the end of the day, we are giving out Ozziecoins. We have an interest in seeing this become successful but more than that we genuinely want more ordinary Australians to just try out the Blockchain for themselves. We'll be transparent when the time calls for it. The skills we have acquired can be applied to other nations also interested in developing a fair distribution mechanism. (PM me if you are interested in doing this for your country also). We don't wish to replace the Australian dollar or Bitcoin. Ozziecoin is intended for micro transactions and for research. We leave the investment aspect to the more well established currencies.

Is it just me or does it seem weird to state a start time for Ozziecoin in a non Aussie Timezone? Maybe put up the EST for launch as well? 12:01am 25th April EST might be better to Coincide with ANZAC day?

We'll move it to 25th April 12:00 AM EST. Thanks for pointing that out.

SCAM
Before calling this a scam. Did you buy a cup of coffee today? What did that cost you? We have invested a lot of time and money into this. We believe $3.30 is not an unreasonable cost compared to the cost of setting up a mining rig to mine 500 ozziecoins. Also, I think people shouldn't expect everything to be completely free. There is a cost attached to maintaining our infrastructure. If someone is not prepared to pay a $3.30 nominal fee to ensure fair allocation, we suggest they are more than welcome to set up a mining rig.
