I have 2 Gridseed GC3355's and I'm adding another one in one or two weeks. I would prefer to power them via a wall outlet. Do they make 12v power bricks that support this? I may want to voltmod them at some point but its not required. I checked Amazon and other sites but couldn't find any.
I do have a spare 500w PSU I could use (how would I turn it on and what cables to convert) but I would prefer a straight wall jack if I have that option.
I would appreciate any help. Thank you.
Ham radio power supplies are something you should look at. I bought these:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B007WMOM4O/ref=oh_details_o01_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1up to 50A continuous at 12V and very stable power with built in meter. One of these will power max of 85 gridseeds in scrypt only mode, or 10 in dual mode. Very small and quiet. There are other ham radio supplies out there that would be equally good but this is a high quality one that is cheap.
If you are maxing out the unit, you will need to run a car or marine battery cable (4/0 or 5/0 gauge) from the power supply to two busses (one positive, one ground) that is rated for at least 50 amps. There are lots of busses out there made for boats (marine) that can easily handle 50A without sweating, I use this:
