Hello Everyone,

So a few weeks ago I made a post about a local rancher who wanted me to sell his organic beef and pork for him for Bitcoin. At the time, he thought that the meat would be available in late January but it looks like he's going to have some available this week. There were also a few questions you all asked that I asked him and here are the answers:

1. The animals are grass fed and grass finished.
2. He doesn't use *any* chemicals with them at all (including antibiotics, etc)
3. He is willing to ship anywhere in the USA. Outside might be iffy but he's willing to try.
4. We're working on a basic website but he will take manual orders until it's up.

I'll have pricing details tomorrow but just wanted to update everyone on the new info tonight.

Thanks!
TMA

Bitcoin mining is now a specialized and very risky industry, just like gold mining. Amateur miners are unlikely to make much money, and may even lose money. Bitcoin is much more than just mining, though!

Interesting concept ... truly. And I would love to see it (and others) work out. But do you seriously think someone is going to risk their health and the health of their families betting on some unknown meat from an unverifiable source that may or may not have flown under the USDA inspection radar?

Not trying to imply this is anything but legit, but you have to admit this is a very risky thing you are proposing. While I love the idea of purchasing anything with bitcoin, I love the idea of supporting local farmers and getting produce from them directly, when it comes to potential health risks there is some serious due diligence to overcome before people should even consider this.

I think this is interesting and I might buy some. At home we eat all organic and 90% vegetarian. A source for healthy meat is a good addition to the BTC economy.

Farming is the foundation of any economy and farmers looking to sell their products directly for Bitcoin should be encouraged and supported.

TMA, if you run into any difficulties in supporting your local rancher as they setup shop, please let us know. Can you post a link to the original thread? I'm most interested in how the Bitcoin conversation got started.
