Could a R.I.P. section "like a head stone" be implemented to profiles of those who passed away?

How about a simple "R.I.P" in the place that lists his member status?

not a bad idea,  but I wonder how easy it is to keep track if people don't give their real names while alive.

Why is it needed? I'm sure it's very easy to implement but proving a person is dead when 99% of the time nobody knows anything about you will be quite difficult. Scammers will just attempt to use this so they can take the heat off themselves.

If someone really cares about the community enough that they share with their family or friends (that friend maybe another forum member) that they are a member of this forum and want to have their account memorialized then I think it is something that should be looked into; however, it should also be verified by an online obituary or an newspaper containing the obituary.

Obviously this is for those members that are valued here. The one that recently died was well known and trusted (if he really did die).

It seems that not much is known about even the most 'trusted' members here and I'm sure most would like to keep it that way. Also seems like too much hassle and work to make it verifiable on both ends (actually verifying who you are and that you're actually dead), and I'm not sure what good the actual feature is not to mention it's bound to be abused.

Isn't it the same for the Trust feature? It isn't really useful and it is being abused?

I don't think it's the same. It'd be the similar if we had to verify each user before they were allowed to leave feedback. And I think the trust feature is useful, and while it is abused, people just need to make their own mind up with the evidence (or lack thereof)  given.
