I guess that will be useful not only for me since this is quite new and people tend to make mistakes.

I got a small bitcoin transaction which I can see at https://masterchest.info/ that it holds my MaidSafeCoins.
I have access to the private key and everything.

But what If I use this wallet for normal bitcoin transaction and it spends from the address that got the MSC?
What would be the best practices to keep our MSC safe in bitcoin only wallet.

There doesn't seem to be Mastercoin wallet for linux and I don't want to go for a web wallet, so I guess I'm stuck to keep them in a bitcoin wallet, but how?

Either a) wait till there is something more friendly or b) learn how to use mastercoin tools. :-)

It is VERY hard to spend them.  So hard in fact - there is no way this can happen on accident.  Just hold them for 12 months until the tools are much better.  For now, the markets are just too messy.

You can spend them by mistake if they are in bitcoin wallets with other not colored bitcoins.

Just keep it in your wallet until it takes you enough profit.
