The Bitcoin software, network, and concept is called "Bitcoin" with a capitalized "B". Bitcoin currency units are called "bitcoins" with a lowercase "b" -- this is often abbreviated BTC.

I was reading that thread, then got to the end and thought, "Inappropriate? Wha..?"

I checked up at the top to see which forum the thread was in. It was in "Off-Topic."

Considering the nature of the thread... that just doesn't look good. I find it disturbing that my (unimportant) opinions of the situation are beginning to be developed more from the reactions to discussion rather than to actual dialog.

This is just fantastic. NOT APPROPRIATE ? ARE YOU HIGH ?

The forum ownership really needs to re-evaluate some of the moderation positions that have been handed out.

Moving this thread to OFF TOPIC is retarded. WHERE ELSE SHOULD IT BE, IF A POOL-MEMBER 'ATTN' THREAD DOES NOT BELONG IN THE POOL'S FORUM, SHERLOCK ?

This thread was moved from POOLS to OFF TOPIC.... sooo....which is the INAPPROPRIATE FORUM ?

What section was the thread in originally?  I couldn't find a redirect topic in Mining or Pools.

I think its always been there, and the response has since been deleted.

is DiabloD3 trying to troll us or something? this is what usually happens:

1. randomly locks thread/deletes posts
2. members notice, and post a thread in meta
3. DiabloD3 (or some other staff) quietly reverses the action

The thread is unlocked now, and the post labeling the thread "inappropriate" has been removed.

He definitely can't moderate the thread as it's in Off-Topic, I had assumed he moved it there from somewhere in the mining section.

Which sounds like he made the post, locked the thread, moved it, and I (and others) just happened to read it before the unlock.

If that's what happened, then it makes a lot more sense.

This thread was locked by reason of being inappropriate, then moved from POOLS after Diablo did his handy work to it..

If that thread doesn't belong in the Pools forum, then there are many others that shouldn't be either.

He did, it was definitely Pools (maybe mining)this morning.

It was Pools. I posted in it this morning, then went back and it had disappeared.

I'm so confused... Now it's back in off-topic.

I'd move it somewhere, but I fear that somebody would hit me over the head with a stick, regardless of where I move it.

I'd prefer to see it where it started. I have several boards ignored, one of which is off-topic, and so I would miss it if it were there.

That thread clearly belongs in Pools minimally, but even could be put in the MAIN "bitcoin discussion" forum as it crosses many topics and involves many key players in Bitcoin.

I may have to rethink my decision to stay in bitcointalk.

Maybe I will investigate that P2P forum thing.

Here's the reason behind it being on Off Topic right now:

Diablo moved it there from Pools originally (after locking it or something)
I moved it back to Pools
He moved it back to Off Topic
Back to Pools
Back to Off Topic once more

Apparently Diablo wanted to delete it because he thinks it doesn't belong on the board at all, but Theymos said not to.  Theymos pretty much defers to Diablo's judgment in the Mining section because he, Theymos, doesn't read it a lot.  Diablo said that there are too many of these topics there and that they are mostly full of trolling, so he thinks they should be deleted but they've just been moved instead.

I'm going to move it back to Pools, because I don't see any other threads like this one there.  I also don't see a whole lot of trolling in the thread.

For what it's worth, agreed on both points.  Don't see why it should be removed or moved.  Not having it would just cause more off topic posts.
