Actually the I paid 50btc. HE pm'd me and said he'd do it for 50, with a 20btc downpayment. I said fine, pretty happy with the result.

Disagree. A dark background doesn’t fit financial sites at all, also it’s the bright text on dark background that makes eyes cry and not the other way round. It sucks for legibility; I have not yet seen a serious book, pdf or anything with a dark background.

I think you are percepting it as too bright because the site doesn’t have much content yet and perhaps are accommodated to darker sites.

Traditional sites have no problem with plain white and I think anything else looks really dubious.
