Bloomberg has announced the release of Bitcoin support in their trading terminals, used worldwide by over 320,000 trading professionals. The market makers of the world will now have instant access to immediate Bitcoin prices on an industry-standard trading platform. This places the virtual currency before the eyes of the movers and shakers of most of the world's money supply as they decide where to invest their $USD holdings.

Wonder what the impact of this will be on the price of BTC? I'd imagine, if nothing else, it will result in more people at least having heard of bitcoin & hopefully encourage them to look into what exactly it is & realise that it has potential.

sure hope you're right but if it takes power away from the governments, surely they'll never let it happen?

just typed it into my terminal
VCCY gives you a Virtual Currency Monitor
It shows the Coinbase and Kraken prices to USD and the Kraken Euro price
(no Bitstamp - yet)
It uses USD per XBT and EUR per XBT
so XBT not BTC

This is not quite the same as having XBT ccy or XBT cmdty , but its a step in the right direction

(for those who dont know ccy and cmdty are short codes in bloomberg for currency and commodity types)

This won't have any immediate impact on the market, but rest assured, it will make the upcoming mega bubble even larger as even more will have knowledge and easier access to bitcoin news!  Shocked Shocked

Night gathers, and now my bitcoinwisdom watch begins.

Imagine 1 or 2 years ago, asking whether this would happen, or when. People would probably have said: yeah, maybe in 5-10 years it will happen ....

But those people would have been thinking in terms of linear growth. We're still in exponential growth.

Only to then change it to μBTC in two years? No, change it to "bits" once and for all. 100 Satoshis to one bit and 1,000,000 bits to one BTC - perfect!

I think it is only natural that it will come with time and the increase in price.

I would have thought this news would have bumped up the price a little already though?  I guess it takes time for people to buy, but for those already involved with Bitcoin it seems logical to buy before some more "big players" get in the game.
