In what sports do men and women compete at the closest to the same level?

Believe it or not, maybe of the top female tennis players can't beat male college level players, and even some male high school level players. If you're above-average at tennis, you might have a shot of beating a 100-200+ level tennis player.

Sad but true. Women won't be able to compete with men in sports which requires athletic ability. In other sports, such as chess they may be having a better chance (what is the difference in average IQ for men and women?)

Apparently it's not about IQ as men are also far better than women at chess.

Researchers claim that it is just because men play chess more often, when compared to the women (the best male players are extreme outliers on the bell curve, while the best female players are less so).

Now that I think of it, women are really good in volleyball. And even better in beach volley. I've never seen a profesional women team competing with a men's one to be honest but women's volleyball league seems just as profesional as the men's one (at least to me).

Then why do both the male and women play in different competitions and don't face each other? It's not like there is physical contact (oh the horror!).

That is truth about people! Also I last time when I checked I did not see many women with grandmaster chess title. It maybe so that women play little chess but I don't think that is the main reason.

Chess ..! I don't know what the research says but I think if a average Male and Female want to compete they should play Chess and see who's bad and who's worst at it..!

I was just posting the opinion of the researcher. That was his justification for the lack of gender equality in chess. I don't agree with him fully in any sense. IMO, the only woman GM who is capable of competing against the male GMs is Judit Polgár. She has defeated Viswanathan Anand, Magnus Carlsen, Anatoli Karpov, Ruslan Ponomariov, Garry Kasparov, Alexander Khalifman, Boris Spassky, Vasily Smyslov, Veselin Topalov, and Rustam Kasimdzhanov.

Yes we're talking in general here. The above does show the difference in chess is far lower than in more physical sports such as tennis.

You're a male. I think biologically, that's what we're programmed to do. Win at all cost. If we're better than the man beside us, we're a better mating partner, right?
