Hi folks,

I just wanted to encourage everyone to attend a LOCAL Bitcoin meetup where you can meet other bitcoiners in your home town.  This is a great way to learn more about Bitcoin, buy and sell Bitcoin with cash in person, and make business connections.

Here are some Bitcoin meetups in major cities worldwide (they are all free to join and attend meetups):

Once a transaction has 6 confirmations, it is extremely unlikely that an attacker without at least 50% of the network's computation power would be able to reverse it.

What do you guys do on these bitcoin meet ups?   I mean, I am all for meeting new people, but what do you do in person that you are not doing right here on this forum?   Trading coins is one thing...but are you just talking about bitcoins amongst each other?

I'm liking this idea. Gives the Bitcoin community some real people to hang out and interact with. Is this just so people can make arrangements or a thread combining the popular cities where people can just meet up fellow bitcoiners? My city is listed here so I'm interested where you take this. Thanks for the thread.

Shoot with how obsessed alot of people have become with btc, these meetings may end up being like alcoholics anonymous meetings... Lol. "At first I was just buying one btc and checking the prices once a day... But as time went on, I spent all of my money on btc, and check the charts every 5 minutes for each waking hour of the day...." Haha

Please add us to your list:

Atlanta Miners & Traders Meetup

http://www.meetup.com/Duluth-Bitcoin-Miners-Traders-Meetup/events/180248872/

Ours is a meeting designed to be a recurring technology showcase, networking and discuss monetary and fiscal policy. That's why my choice is a professional office space so we can have the infrastructure for demos and presentations.

I intend to invite business leaders from companies such as Zeus Miner, Gridseed, CampBX, Bitpay, etc.

Cheers,

Hello,
This is a great idea!
I will spread the word on Bulgarian forums and  try to atract as many people as i can. I can make a free seminar on the topic of Bitcoin in Sofia, Bulgaria, but it seems that just few people in Bulgaria know about BTC at all.
The main thing is to make it known for people who does not know about BTC and other crypto at all!

Perhaps Cleveland and Cincinnati aren't that important?   Tongue

Cleveland
http://www.meetup.com/Cleveland-Bitcoin/

Cincinnati
http://www.meetup.com/Cincinnati-Bitcoin/

They existed when this thread was started...

Coinbase for selling BTCs
Fold for spending BTCs
PM me with any questions on these sites/apps!  http://www.montybitcoin.com

or Vircurex for trading alt cryptocurrencies like DOGEs
CoinNinja for exploring the blockchain.

What do people do at bitcoin meetups? Seems like a funny idea - but I guess any excuse to meet new people is worth it!
