I just created a website based around bitcoin, of course, and have created a facebook page for marketing. We have only been active for 3 days and we are already over 60 likes. My question: I want to start a referral program for those who are generating leads to my FB page, what would be a good way to organize this. I was thinking of having the persons interested message me and I would give them a code that would be used by there referrals. The referrals would just message or comment the code and I would then know who to award the coins to. It would be easy with likes in the 100's, but after that it seems like one big headache. Are there any ideas of a better way of doing this? Has anyone ever done a referral program that was successful and less than miserable to maintain?

Depending on how your site is designed, you can generate a random code for each user, throw it into a URL ie. yoursite.com/?aff=random-code, when the affiliate user visits that link, set a cookie and wait for them to sign up. When they sign up you can link the two accounts together.

Not to be the person blankly staring at you with a puzzled look on my face, but...whhat? J/K. Where could I go for more information on this?

Depends on your site, if your site is just static content (html files, etc) then it's probably not possible to do it automatically.

If you use a language backend (PHP, ruby, python etc) then you can automate it Smiley!

Is there a good system of manually collecting referral data? If the provider I'm using does not offer server side languages.

Notepad or Excel?  Smiley
Every provider offers "server side languages".....almost every provider.
Basic to medium programming is not too hard, but you will need time to learn.

Would I just give out custom codes and have there referrals use the code in a message or is there another system I am not thinking of?

In essence it is that simple, but...
You need to either code it yourself, pay someone else, or buy affiliate software.

I am using weebly and they do not offer PHP. Is there anyway to get a host that does and transfer my site or would I have to completely rebuild it if I chose to use a different provider.
