A quick review of my post look pretty much on topic and contribute to the original poster.

If a mod or anyone can let me know I would greatly appreciate it.

A quick review of that your post really looks on topic and contribute to the poster, but whis question should be asked in "Meta" thread better.

Thank you, it looks like a Mod moved the thread for me already.

I understand the spamming of threads and boosting of post count is annoying and cluttering the board, however I have reported such ones and even spam bots that have posted.

For being logged in for 15 days, 18 hours and 45 minutes I think my posting has been restrained. I'm pretty much on btctalk all day browsing various sections and only comment on things in which I can contribute.

Example: Just the other day I was reading about how some gambling sites aren't provably fair and how there should be a "one for all script", I restrained commenting on that post becuase I have no idea nor anything to contribute to the matter.

On topic posts may still be insubstantial, however in my opinion your posts should have been OK.

You were temp banned (not by me BTW) for a huge amount of low quality posts, contributing little to nothing to the discussion, over a short period of time. Adding the fact you have a paid signature and here you have it.

My suggestion would be to decrease the amount of posts per day, write longer posts and only post if you have something substantial to add.

My roommates account was also banned for this reason supposedly.  I've reviewed last couple of pages of his posts and though I agree there is a fair amount of fluff or attempts at humor I fail to see why he was banned.  If this is a question of you guys thinking we are the same person because we have the same IP address let me lay those worries to rest.  It says 7 days after his account so I'm sure he'll be asking himself when he's allowed to post again.  Anyway, if this is the criteria your going to start using for banning people I can see a huge percentage of these posters getting banned left and right.  Will probably improve the overall quality of the threads but I guess only time will tell.

You are more likely to get banned if you are participating in a paid signature campaign than if you are not. It's a "better safe than sorry" ruling. Since the staff members aren't able to tell if a sig campaign participant posting increasingly insignificant posts is only doing so in order to test the waters and eventually escalate to spam-like posts, then a temp ban is a practical warning to that member that he/she has been noticed and needs to change his/her posting habits. Many would prefer to be warned verbally and not by a temp-ban, but I think a 7-day "timeout" sends a far clearer message in general. As for other people who are posting insubstantial posts intentionally but who are not currently participating in any paid signature campaign, they get banned eventually. They get banned even faster when people actually report them though.

Posting from the same ip is irrelevant as you or your "room mate" can have as many accounts as you want here.

But they ban people, not accounts, so one using same IP as a banned user may be seen as ban evasion, that may cause both accounts to be banned longer.

Yeah, but he seems to suggest him having two accounts posting from the same ip was the possibly the cause of the ban (which it won't be). And ban evasion is usually for when people create a new account to evade their ban, but if you had another account anyway nobody except possibly theymos would be any wiser unless you admitted or made it publically known you did.

I myself have never had my account banned nor do I use any other account's when communicating on the forums.  I simply assumed our having the same IP might have been a potential reason for the ban since I didn't think his posts where overly 'spammy' at least the ones I looked at but of course I only looked at last 30-40 posts and I'm not the authority on constructive posts per say...just wanted to make sure he wasn't getting banned for the wrong reasons.

Bottom line, it's his account, luckily mine hasn't been affected and he's a big boy and can find out what's going on once his ban is lifted.

You knew about his ban before your roommate did? Why would he ask how long he's banned for when it says 7 days? Seems a bit weird.

Nope, I don't know of anyway to see that his account is banned.  I meant he would be asking forum mod's himself why his account was banned (once he's able to do so)
