I've decided to set aside a small portion of
my Bitcoins for the purposes of lending
to the community.

(The problem here is that people who really
need a loan cannot get one because they
don't have the proper collateral, and if
they had the collateral, they wouldn't
need the loan.)

To apply for a loan without a trusted
account and without collateral, you
must post a Youtube video in your
application.

Although this is not the same thing
as collateral, it should dissuade scammers
to some degree.

Post your video as a response to this
thread.

1. Introduce yourself to the community
2. Explain how much you need to borrow
3. Explain the purpose of the loan
4. Give a reasonable proposal of interest and duration (suggestion is 20% interest and payback within 7 days)
5. Explain how you will repay the loan.

I will decide to approve or not approve
the loans on a case by case basis.
We'll see how it goes.

If you don't have a video camera or webcam
to create your video, then you cannot
use this service.

Please do not PM me.  If you PM me about this,
you'll be instantly disqualified.

Please note these are MICROLOANS only.

I hear what you are saying but public scrutiny is the price to be paid here.

Scammers are dissuaded, PLUS...

if the borrowing applicant is really sincere, more people will be willing
to lend to that person.

So this is a good system.

Bitcoin is all about the anonymous features...  why would a scammer (or anyone fir that matter) post their video and release it to the public?

first of all, this whole lending forum is a joke.

But if someone is really in a bind and they need money,
i'm providing an option.  This will separate the scammers
from those really in need.

You're calling the whole board in which you are lending people money a joke?
Wouldn't that kind of be a sign you don't put any weight in the place and really shouldn't
be giving out money? Don't most people only repay in collateral free loans if they are serious/legitimate?

I mean if someone is really desperate, yeah they would probably be willing to do the leg-work regarding a video, as
well as someone who really wishes to scam someone.  Anyways, what do you consider a microloan anyways?  Could
you give an actual BTC figure?

Ok let me rephrase that -- it is MOSTLY a joke because you
have the same threads:  newbie comes in, wants a loan,
doesn't have collateral, gets denied, etc.

I would rather not set a hard limit because then
people will ask the max or close to it.  I would
rather hear the amount someone needs and why.

I'm giving lenders a way to earn a fair interest rate on their investment in
a professional convenient manner. How does a lendee [me] getting collateral-free loans hurt newbies without collateral from getting a loan?  I don't understand the logic here.

I just don't follow how me getting legitimate loans ties into newbies getting denied for loans, considering I also used to handle a few loans here as a lender and not a lendee.
