If you wait until BTC is less risky and easier to use, then it might be a lot more expensive.

...

"Bitco..., what's that?"

"Ma, it's the new digital currency that looks to be the next big thing."

"Oh, no thanks, dear..."

***

My Mom is 82 and just started learning to use Facebook, so, no, I will give BTC to someone else when the time comes.

Nice thought though, + 1 !!

The network doesn't stretch quite far enough to reach her yet.

She's dead.

The idea isn't for everyone.
My mom is also too old for the Internet, but some of "us" have mothers in their early 40's.

Coming up on Sunday, May 11

giving parents money for mothers/fathers day is missing the point

its meant to be an act of love to show them they mean alot to you.

money = "cant be arsed to buy you something, so you do the work, heres some money now you find something to buy"

keep money gifts for other occassions

How about giving her both money and a gift? I don't see any problem with that.

An economy based on endless growth is unsustainable.

If this is an insult, I don't understand where it's coming from. I'm just suggesting that you can give your mother some BTC along with the usual Mother's Day gift.

Some parents need money more than gifts.
Seniors have a rising cost of living and usually limited income.

I ordered her flowers from http://www.cheapflowers.com/

paid in bitcoin

Good idea, thanks for the suggestion.

I was thinking about that too. But I wonder if ordering some books from amazon or something. But Bitcoin are still rising. Giving Bitcoins makes more sense.

If I give her a paper wallet, she would just loose it. She does not care how much it is worth. She only cares whether she can pay for groceries with it. The obvious answer is not yet.

Thought about it. But then decided against it. My mom is not that tech savvy. Even if someone gives her Bitcoin, she won't be able to keep them safe and secure. So I bought her another gift instead.

My mother loves to tell me that I don't know what I am doing with my money, but then later saying she should have listened. So I guess I should get her some, but she still would prefer a nice perfume or something like that.
