The MIT project was an awesome one to take bitcoin to mainstream and motivate some of the talented brains  on this planet to develop blockchain related apps, contribute to bitcoin code at github and other places.

Why can't we follow a similar thing here and organize a project and distribute bitcoin to IIT or other tech institutes and tell them about bitcoins and motivate them to participate in those coding projects...

common guys I need your opinion.

I think we should collect bitcoins through a fundraiser and distribute those coins equally between studens. We can start small with say a particular department of a college/university. We can also distribute these through some kind of contest where people have take a test or research about cryptocurrencies to claim there coins. This will fulfill the aim of educating people about crypto.

1)The first thing we must decide which university or college by vote..

2)Then plan up the strategy to distribute the coins which will also be a good learning experience and motivating to participate in the blockchain related projects.

3) Then we must contact the college students and  concerned faculty and let them know about the project.

4) fix up  expo at a date, get some media attention, conduct the expo and distribute bitcoins.

One of the key difference is this kind of project was started by MIT natively buy when we want to do the same here, we are introducing it to college so if any student from any college, may be on the forum approaches us or starts a similar thing we must support that irrespective of the college or place where the student comes from..

any suggestions...

In the last Kolkata meetup we had some talk similar to this and moved forward with our plan. There were guys from ISI and I came to know they have Cryptology Research Group. Then came the Mt. Gox fall and people in general started to show inhibition regarding anything about Bitcoin. The plans are now in cold storage. Lets see, if those can be revived.

great to watch a good suggestions taking shape into reality...

one thing i want to point out is  students from the department of sociology also received bitcoins at MIT, that was given to them to support them to do some sociological experiments with bitcoin,

So i think our project should also cover a wide range of students from arts, science and other humanities and not just engineering or IT departments.
